Maurice Hinchey, Dem Rep Who Accused Rove of Planting Rathergate Docs, on Hannity Tonight
Hannity & Colmes, Fox News | governsleast governsbest

Posted on 02/23/2005 6:07:47 PM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Maurice Hinchey, the far-left Demcorat who at a public forum in Ithaca over the weekend accused Karl Rove of planting the forged Rathergate documents, will be on Hannity and Colmes during this hour.

I'm sorry to say that Hinchey is my congressman. This is the same guy who at the beginning of the Iraq war accused our military of committing 'massacres' in Iraq.

I can confidently predict that Hinchey will not back down. He is a strutting little arrogant fellow. Keep your eyes peeled to see if the cameras show his feet - he likes to affect cowboy boots - this Brooklyn-born little tough guy.

Bush is *so* stupid that he tricked Dan Rather into using forged documents against him.

For those unfamiliar with this case, here's the transcript from Brit Hume's Grapevine a couple days ago:

Hinchey's Hunch

New York Democratic Congressman Maurice Hinchey (search) is accusing the White House, and specifically adviser Karl Rove (search), of "setting up" CBS to air the now-discredited report on President Bush's National Guard service. At a weekend forum in Ithaca, New York — taped by a member of the audience — Hinchey said, "Why did [the White House] do it? They knew that Bush was a draft dodger. ... They knew that he had no defense for that period in his life. ... So] they produced papers ... and they distributed those out to elements of the media. ... [CBS] finally bought into it."

Hinchey, however, said he has no evidence to back up his claim.

They have an alter erected to this Congressman at the Dem blogs. They lay prostrate in front of their keyboards and sing the praises of the moonbat for "Finally speaking the truth that Rove framed Dan Rather!"

Exactly. Hinchey & Co. have to be deeply deranged that Rove somehow would think it would be a good idea to put out documents placing W in a bad light.

Bush is *so* stupid that he tricked Dan Rather into using forged documents against him.

Karl Rove is *so* smart that he picked a Chimp to put all his effort behind.

It works either way you slice it.

Y'see.

Hinchey said there's circumstantial evidence based on Rove's alleged history of dirty tricks.

Colmes, riding to Hinchey's aid, just said: "Sxott Peterson was oonvicted in California on the basis of circumstantial evidence."

THAT'S RIGHT, ALAN COLMES JUST ANALOGIZED KARL ROVE TO A MAN WHO MURDERED HIS WIFE AND CHILD.

The arrogance of this guy is nauseating. He could barely keep a straight face, reveling in his face time on national TV. He could care less about making false and unsubstantiated charges. He feels that as an incumbent, with his base of support in Ithaca, he's politically invulnerable.

Hinchey AND Colmes are such idiots that they don't understand what circumstantial evidence is.

Evidence that somebody did something at some OTHER time in the past is NOT evidence that someone did the same thing on a particular occasion. There are a few exceptions - habitual action and similar transaction, but they don't apply here.

Wish these folks who don't understand the law would quit pontificating on it. Although I guess they figure if they sound authoritative enough most people won't know the difference.

Agreed. He didn't even attempt to make a serious argument. At least the Charlie Rangels et. al of the world make an effort to put some arguably reasonable face on their positions. Hinchey could care less. He was just wallowing in his 2 minutes of fame, utterly unconcerned about making a rational case, knowing his fanatical supporters in Ithaca and elsewhere will lap up his buffoonery, the more outlandish the better. Sickening and infuriating.

I am sorry, but No one has pointed out:

If Karl Rove is behind this as Hinchey purports, then why the *Hadees* did Burkett become involved? Wasn't Burkett identified as Mary Mapes' contact on this? Wasn't it proven that he Faxed the supposedly authentic documents from a Kinko's near his house to her? Didn't he openly state that he has had these for a long time and that he got them from someone who he will not reveal? Did Rove give them to Burkett? I don't think so!

Man oh man, I can't believe Hinchey - I think, based on his behavior, that we can correctly assume (as he has done) on the circumstantial evidence: Hinchey has Alzheimer's.
