S-2261 introduced on 1-24-05, is a .50 Cal Rifle & Handgun Ban and it SPECIFICALLY BANS ANY.50 CAL "muzzleloader having in-line ignition, a center hammer or under hammer"
It also BANS any "antique firearm, antique handgun or traditional muzzleloader rifle, of a caliber greater than 60 caliber" It other words the .69+ caliber muskets which won the Revolutionary War, e.g. Brown Bess, Charleville, etc. are banned. Even original antiques are BANNED!
I could understand limitations on .50 cal cartridge rifles in NJ. I don't agree with it, but I understand the half-baked mentality that goes into it. But muzzle-loaders? I would say if muzzle-loaders are illegal only criminals will have 'em but sheesh, they won't. There's no point. A baseball bate with a large nail through it would be a more effective implement of crime.
Last one of you fellows out, please bring the flag.
