Come on down to Dixie, then - I did.
Actually, if your relocation range is limited, PA is vastly more gun-friendly than New Jersey. They even have a CCW compact with GA.

Just retired. Have a lot in PA and a brother in Florida . Probably be transferring legal residency to Fla in near future. Tax laws are leaner and firearms are MUCH easier to purchase . Believe it or not you need a firearms PERMIT to buy a BB gun in Zoo Jersey .

gad... down here, you walk into the local Walmart, pick out the gun (including shotguns and 22lr long guns), fill out the transfer form, plunk down the cash, and walk out, gun in hand.

Crikey. This just gets worse and worse, and NJ gun owners just continue to sit on their dead asses and let it all be. And then we have the specter of Corzine for governor - Corzine who, if I recall correctly, has said he'd like to make NJ the first gun-free state in the US.
"Outta here" is looking better and better. Why do I want to keep giving tax dollars to these idiots so they can keep using them to destroy my rights?

They can publish all the propaganda they want that shows "low crime" in NJ, but just go try hanging out in Newark or Camden for a few nights. New Jersey's cities are overrun with violent criminals who have guns, plenty of them, including guns that have been essentially illegal since 1934. Wonder why? Where are the drugs coming from, too? Street drugs have also been illegal for many years, but much like guns, there is no shortage of them in Jersey. You can't go to Tennessee or Virginia and buy heroin or cocaine at the drugstore, but NJ's cities are flooded with them, too. Same story with NYC.
"Gun-free state"... That is, unless you are a street thug, drug dealer, mobster, or police officer. Oh yeah, or politician. The core issue that the anti-gun extremists are trying deliberately to hide is that they don't want ordinary citizens reaching for guns when the really unpopular parts of "the program" are put into effect. History shows again and again: when the means to defend oneself are gone, there is literally no limit to what corrupt authorities can and WILL do. The ACLU's "championing" of the "Bill of Rights" would amount to a hill of beans- state monopoly on the instruments of violence means you can whine all you want, but they know they have a free ticket to stomp your face in. As Tony Soprano would say as he leans forward and invades your personal space, "whaddygunnadoaboutit?"
Sort of related to this: Before you embrace the "Republican" Arnold Schwarzenegger for President someday, consider that he signed California's .50 caliber ban into law. Arnold's agenda is evidently anti-gun.

I could understand limitations on .50 cal cartridge rifles in NJ. I don't agree with it, but I understand the half-baked mentality that goes into it. But muzzle-loaders? I would say if muzzle-loaders are illegal only criminals will have 'em but sheesh, they won't. There's no point. A baseball bate with a large nail through it would be a more effective implement of crime.
