As long as her family pays to keep feeding her why would anyone object to keeping her alive?

As long as her family pays to keep feeding her why would anyone object to keeping her alive?

Well, Michael R. Schiavo, a popular Clearwater nurse, objects. Is anyone surprised at this man's popularity among his neighbors? In an earlier generation, people would have shunned him.

As far as the cost of the feeding tube, there is no cost per se so long as the tube is washed out with clear water after each administration of a nutrititional supplement given two or three times a day.

Two reasons:

Her husband may be responsible for her condition. If she is able to speak someday, she may incriminate him.

There is likely a large life insurance policy which he can collect on after her death.

There can't be too many other explanations for this situation.

He's already shacked up with kids...so why not just get divorced and grant custody to the parents?

Woeful ignorance in these matters, but can't help wondering if the Schindlers could make the case that Terri was never given the minimum proper care that her husband was awarded the money for, most specifically the crucial therapy that was promised. Could have made a difference? Just a thought.

The anyone that is objecting is her husband, who never wants Terri to be in any shape where she can communicate what happened to her. Mike Schiavo is terrified of the truth coming out.....

What I have never understood is how they can use the hearsay evidence of her husband that said she did not want to have her life sustained by a artificial means? Was Terri thinking about that type of artificial means that would help her when she required something to enable her to swallow? Michael Schiavo concocted the idea of the do not sustain story as soon as he learned she needed this feeding tube. This is not the same type of equipment required to sustain a person on life support, which is what most people think of when they talk about being sustained by artificial means.
