Who Killed the Jersey City Coptic Family: Robbers? Islamists?

The police seem to have no leads in the case of the Armanious family—husband, Hossam, 47, wife, Amal Garas, 37, and their daughters Monica, 8, and Sylvia, 15— who were found murdered in their Jersey City home last month, but the family's Coptic-Christian co-religionists and their supporters have no doubts. They are certain it was the work of Muslim extremists.

Some say the Islamist murderers received support from the Egyptian government. One pro-Israel leader of the Coptic community insists compromised Coptic clergymen bear their share of guilt, too.

Each member of the family was bound and gagged before their throats were slit. Sylvia was found with a huge gash in her chest where she had been repeatedly stabbed. She was also stabbed in the wrist where she had a tattoo of a Coptic cross. Although Monica's cross tattoo was not defaced, her wrists were also cut.

According to family members who viewed the bodies at the funeral home, the victims had horizontal slits across the throat. Below the slit, on the left, right, and middle of the throat were three holes “big enough so that one could place a finger in each hole.”

“It was as if the killers took a knife and turned it repeatedly in a circular fashion, as if to screw holes into the victims'necks,” said a member of the family. “When we saw the pictures, you could tell that they were hurt really, really bad in the face, especially Sylvia,” said Milad Garas, Amal Garas' uncle.

Mr. Armanious and his daughter, Sylvia, were outspoken proponents of their faith who, emboldened by American laws guaranteeing freedom of speech, did not hesitate to carry on Internet debates with Muslims.

If the perpetrators of this crime are not apprehended, we are well on our way to seeing our 'free speech' guarantees replaced by Sharia. This is an appalling crime and the whole 'there are no suspects' thing smacks of indifference or fear on the part of law enforcement.

Of course you know that 'PC' will hinder an honest and diligent investigation into this murder. When the murderers get away with this, they will become even bolder.

Some memebers of the Coptic community have told law enforcement officials about a jersey City Imam wh allegedly declared the Armanious family's blood to be "halal," or licit to shed, because of their proselytizing activities among Muslims. According to a family fri9end, the Muslim Cleric has since fled the country.

"Perhaps there is nothing to this. Perhaps the man who fled is innocent. But even if he is, the Copts have had perfectly cogent reasons for their suspicions," said Mr. Spencer, noting that there have been no statements from the Hudson County Prosecutors Office indicating that the Copts' suspicions and allegations are being investigated...

Many observers noted that the execution of the Armanious family bore all the hallmarks of ritual murder.

"The way the four family members were bound and gagged and the way their throats were slit with holes carved is similar to executions that are shown on al-Jazerra television. The American public is not aware of this because the details of the executions are not often described in news accounts"...
