I watched his shows several timews TRYING to figure out what he was talking about-- never succeeded...
He talked about all sorts of things: Pyramids, Atlantis, strange theology. Most often he just demanded money from his viewers/listeners, quite successfully I might add.
I am at a loss
WOW! I used to watch his show occasionally. I didn't "buy" into his stuff, but it was entertaining.
Sorry to see him gone.
I used to "watch" him on satellite, back in the Big Ugly Dish days. What a hooT!
Yeah, I used to watch him way back. He was a real character but I could never figure him out.
I saw them not too long ago on TV. Maybe a couple of months ago.
The only thing that sounded worse than her singing was when they did a duet.
I remember one show (had to be 15 years ago) where he got wound up about something and called the camera men (maybe lighting guys I dont remember) a bunch of a-holes. I sort of half-expected someone to march up an knock him on his butt, but they didnt.
I didnt know exactly what he had, but he sure looked bad the last few times I ran across him.
Compare him to old Arnold Murray Arnolds getting up there, but hes still in relatively good shape. Well, I guess its hard to tell for sure
you never know if they have a couple of years of shows taped up and just sitting around I guess.
He was the most entertaining thing on television. Going to miss the old wacko ;-)
Garner Ted Armstrong will always remain the King...of this league anyway.
He was funny. I just called my son and discussed Scott with him, reminding him of the thing that happened at a neighbor's house about 17 years ago. Scott was begging for money and needed 10 people to send him $100 or whatever. He got nine people, then there was silence for many minutes. My son and his friends called in and made a fake pledge to get him talking again. They were rolling on the floor when Scott made the announcement.
I think my post to this thread would be a compilation of the posts above it. I've seen him a few times, long ago, what a hoot. I remember him just sitting there saying nothing, and occasionally mentioning that he's not going to continue until more money comes in.
I hadn't heard that name in almost 20 years. We used to watch him in college for entertainment. I will never forget one night where he refused to say anything until a certain sum of money was raised. They kept playing the same song, showing various outdoor images and then cut to him puffing on the cigar. For some reason I think the song was "Dirty Laundry" - but I can't say for certain. I need to check with my college roommate and see if he remembers.
Me too. He was hard to miss when you searched Telstar 3,4,5.
Those were the days...
He was also hard to miss on the shortwave as well.
Believe it or not, back in the early 80's, he actually taught alot. I loved his analysis of "Holy Blood Holy Grail". BTW, it is the book that the "The Da Vinci Code" used much of its data from.
Since I liked the old guy and it was entertaining, I sent some money to keep him on the air and actually became a "Kings House Member.
However, as time went on, he shifted to less talk and more money. I lost interest then.
I haven't seen his show since the early 80's. At the time, IIRC, he would briefly discuss passages of the old testament. Then when I almost latched onto what he was talking about, he'd cut to a musical interlude, start talking about horses or beg for money.
It soon got old.
Regular Bible study proved much more satisfying.
I am sure the reruns will go on for another ten years.
