Middle School Students Encouraged to Send Demoralizing Letters to Soldier

Pfc. Rob Jacobs is a soldier based ten miles from the North Korean border. His home is in New Jersey. Therefore, it was not a surprise that he was excited when he received letters from sixth-grade students at JHS 51 in Park Slope; near Prospect Park in Brooklyn. But, that was before Pfc. Jacobs opened and read the letters. Monday, David Andreatta of the New York Post reported that these letters were “strewn with politically charged rhetoric, vicious accusations and demoralizing predictions that only a handful of soldiers would leave the Iraq war alive.”

The students’ indoctrinator (AKA “teacher”), Alex Kunhardt, had encouraged them to send letters to Jacobs that were to be filled with leftist rhetoric against the Iraq war, the soldiers and President Bush. At least nine of Kunhardt’s students followed his orders. As an example, a letter from a Muslim boy included: "Even thoe [sic] you are risking your life for our country, have you seen how many civilians you or some other soldier killed?" and "I know your [sic] trying to save our country and kill the terrorists but you are also destroying holy places like Mosques." To add insult to injury, Andreatta also advised that the envelope had a ‘smiley-face’ stamped on it.

Although “indoctrinator Kunhardt” refused to return phone calls, his principal Xavier Costelli responded in an inordinately cavalier fashion when he stated: “While we would never censor anything that our children write, we sincerely apologize for forwarding letters that were in any way inappropriate to Pfc. Jacobs. This assignment was not intended to be insensitive, but to be supportive of the men and women in service to our nation." You can tell he really meant it. Sure he did.

This is merely another example of leftist “academia”, now at the lower-grade levels, indoctrinating our children into their malicious and ever-increasing sadistic philosophies. It’s one thing for the leftists to write letters and complain to government leaders but, quite another to try to demoralize our troops by using their new and improved desperate weapon…our kids. This is a new low, even for the Left. So, the next time you hear a liberal/leftist say “we hate the war but, support our troops”, remember this scenario. Then, you can fairly and accurately (and with all intended sarcasm) say: “SURE you do!”

Yes, it is appalling. Fox was discussing it this morning. Brian Kilmead asked the question that I would like to have answered which is how this came about, who is teaching these children these falshoods and these hideous and distorted attitudes toward their own country and their military and does the school administration support it? I would really like to know.

Park Slope in Brooklyn has become an anti-US haven for failed bohemians who came to NYC from red states and europe and couldn't make it.

My brother (Lcpl, USMC)broke up a bar on 5th Ave. there on Sept. 12, 2001. The smoke from the Trade Center was visible in (not from - in)the streets of Park Slope and a couple of these creeps were talking loud about America getting what it deserved. Big mistake with my brother there.

Blue spot on the map, is anyone suprised?
No way to cure them, just don't let the infection spread.

Indoctrinators (I like that term) like Kunhardt are the reason that we need to get the NEA OUT of our public schools and put teachers on a merit based system like EVERY PRIVATE BUSINESS in America.

I think the best strategy is to write Principal Castelli, rather than the leftist teacher who was so stupid that he didn't realize this was going to backfire on him. The principal is supposed to be in charge of the staff. The principals for whom I taught required that anything mailed out by teachers and their classes be submitted to the office first, so it is odd that this principal acts as though the school has no responsibility for this fiasco. And by the way, perhaps someone could have spent their time better in teaching these sixth-graders how to spell. How embarrassing!

Exactly.

All my teachers corrected misspelling (and deducted points) , not just English teachers.

The soldier's father will be on Hannity & Colmes tonight. I have a feeling this principal is going to have a very rough week or so.

"I want to think these letters were coached by the teacher or the parents of these children," Jacobs said in an interview from Camp Casey, Korea.

Better yet, can anyone get the address of this soldier? We should have our kids send a few letters.

Hannity will also feature this on his radio program today. This principal will have plenty of publicity for his indoctrination center! This is the stuff that blue states get famous for and why they will never convince sensible voters that liberals have American values.

Here is a letter I received after a LTTE of mine was posted in the local newspaper (I served in Afghanistan for about a year):

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

I would just like to thank you for making me smile! I am sincerely overjoyed that you have proved me correct! You took the time to degrade my friend and I (two teenage girls who wished only to be allowed to think and act as individuals and become part of something truly productive), rip apart my feelings and insult me publicly. I needed proof that you conservative military guys are all the same- pig-headed, ignorant, rude, intellectual midgets (no offense to midgets of course). If you would like to murder millions of people, go ahead, but you know what? Do NOT do it in the name of the American people because my family, friends and I are American and do not feel the need to harm those who have not harmed us (ooh, but perhaps they're trying to take away the oil that allows we "proud Americans" to drive our SUVs that destroy "proud America's" air...then, I'm sure it would be fine to blow up children and rape women and humiliate soldiers)

Sincerely,

P.S. I was correct, no? Mr. Bush has turned out to be a true liar. I suppose I would want to run away if, in fact, my mom or dad was proved to be a liar. And as for my teachers? I am frightened of those who believe I should fall in line and take away the basic human rights of others, as I am frightened of President Bush. I defend those who are wrongly accused, I do not support thieves, morons or liars. Oh! And remember to vote Kerry for President!

I disagree that the teacher didn't realize the implications of his assignment. I think he did and didn't care - You know, free speech and all. In his demented world he'll now be a martyr for this free speech and will bask in the adulation of his like minded peers. (The Ward Churchill syndrome)

This is YOUR tax money at work folks. This is the sewer our tax dollars is being dumped down.

This teacher should be looking for a job , standing in the unemployment line with Ward-Churchill.
