PLEASE!!! Be merciful and post a pic warning before you subject my eyes to such a sight! My appetite might not return for a week after stumbling across that...think of the children!

Bloggers first broke into the national consciousness in a big way in 2002,when they ultimately forced Senate Republican leader Trent Lott of Mississippi to step down.Is this true? To what degree is this true? (Letting my ignorance show.)

I am so glad you brought up the Mexico story---I felt the same way when I saw it---
Why in the heck isn't this a major story on all of the news---? I guess because the libs are for amnesty and they don't want any bad publicity coming from Mexico--
THAT is the only reason I can think of--
Also, the local news here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area has been having stories about the dangerous Mexican gangs that have gotten more numerous---these gangs are attached to the same drug people that are prolly abducting those young people---

"Tom McPhail, a Canadian-born professor of journalism at the University of Missouri, has already been a target of bloggers for calling them "pretend journalists.""
There are several problems with McPhail.
He's Canadian.
He's a professor.
He's a journalist.
He doesn't know when to hush.
He doesn't know big wood from brush.
"They see red meat and they swarm," he said in an interview. "Eason Jordan is just their latest roadkill.""
Pot calling the kettle black.
"Bloggers' impact cannot be ignored, said McPhail, who believes they gained legitimacy when officially accredited to cover the U.S. political conventions last summer."
Bloggers who are legitimate were accredited to begin with.
"But that doesn't make them credible, he said."
Why not? Ohhhhh... sorry, You meant as far as you are concerned. Don't look now professor but the big hairy hand of the bloggers is about to grab you by the short hairs.

I love to blog. It's fun. The reporters I run into when Freeping usually run off with thier tail between their legs.
I love showing the folks out there the stupid things the leftists are doing and saying. You sure can't read about it in the paper or see it on the news. I love to post pictures of their stupid protest signs and the "back at ya" signs we counter them with.
The blogoshpere is really cool. Personally, I think the quality of the pajama clad "reporters" is far superior than the tripe you see on the MSM.
When FReeping Janet Reno recently I had a MSM reporter come up to ask me questions. He asked me "Are you still protesting THAT?" refering to the Waco photo, I replied "Yes, haven't you heard of D I V E R S I T Y and D I A L O G ??" We cracked up laughing as he walked away.

It invites the question: is everybody a journalist today? Shoot!
No, just smarter and more observant than the MSM thinks they are..
You beat me to it! That's the line I picked out... ;o)
but they also miss the point that being a journalist isn't necc. the equivalent of a decent of honest writer. (nor are the gods)
Or that many here in blogger forum-land have writer/journalist backgrounds.

The title of this stupid story should be, "We used to get away with lying, dammit!"Agreed. The title is stupid but your translation truthfully profound. Having witnessed the press savage Barry Goldwater in '64, it's about time the MSM met its Waterloo..
