WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, who lost decisively to President Bush in an election focused on national security, said Tuesday the country would be "far better off" with his proposals for Iraq and the military. "I think my security proposals for the country were smack on, dead on," Kerry said. "I think that had they started to do the things I proposed on Iraq when I proposed them, we would be far better off today. And they are in fact now trying to do some of the things that I proposed.
The Massachusetts senator, meeting with defense reporters, discussed legislation he plans to introduce to permanently increase the size of the military and boost benefits for military families. It's largely the same proposal that Kerry put forth during the campaign. Several similar proposals also are being floated in Congress.
Reflecting on the presidential campaign, Kerry said he had proposed "a far more effective way to make America safer." And, he said, he was "way ahead of the curve" on several areas - like the position of an intelligence chief, the creation of the commission to investigate the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and an increase in the military death gratuity - while "the president dragged his feet."
"Americans accepted that I could be the commander in chief," he said. "What they were unwilling to do was shift commanders in midstream."
>>Note to Senator Kerry: If you're so f*cking smart, why aren't you president?<<
Thanks to us, the "dumb" ones! LOL
the question is, will France take him up on the offer to help?
Related to the subject of leftist losers claiming to be military heros, recall that professor "Tonto" Churchill clams to be a Vietnam combat veteran and sighs that his fellow grunts called him "Chief".
Once more with feeling: "Then sign Form 180, 'Chief', or at least show us your CIB." (Combat infantry badge.) But like Kerry, he won't. Gee, we wonder why . . . .
He's having withdrawal pains.....attention deficit.
Sorry Mr. Kerry, this doesn't seem to pertain to you.
"The Massachusetts senator, meeting with defense reporters ..."
Who are these reporters, and more importantly, who did they have sex with?
;-)
Its the one that will save American lives, but he won't share it with us unless we let him play in our sandbox.
Pretty classy, eh? He won't reveal his secret plan to save American lives because Bush might use it and get credit for it. That tells me all I need to know about John F. Kerry - but I'm keeping my tagline :)
Alas, Lurch is having delusions of adequacy.
Wasn't he that twit who was in 'Nam or something for a couple of days or hours?
"Note to Senator Kerry: If you're so f*cking smart, why aren't you president?"
You owe me a keyboard
Good grief ping!
"must be pasted over the national desk at AP"
Thank you. I feel a lot better now. :-)
Come, come. You forgot to mention Dukakis' re-entry into DNC politics. ;^)
Senator Kerry: "I AM ADEQUATE!! Really, I AM!!"
