Online Reporter Quits After Liberals' Expose

By Howard Kurtz Washington Post Staff Writer Thursday, February 10, 2005; Page C04

The conservative reporter who asked President Bush a loaded question at a news conference last month resigned yesterday after liberal bloggers uncovered his real name and raised questions about his background.

Jeff Gannon, who had been writing for the Web sites Talon News and GOPUSA, is actually James Dale Guckert, 47, and has been linked to online domain addresses with sexually provocative names.

He has been under scrutiny since asking Bush how he could work with Senate Democratic leaders "who seem to have divorced themselves from reality." The information about Gannon was posted on the liberal sites Daily Kos, Atrios and World o' Crap.

Under the headline "A Voice of the New Media: The Voice Goes Silent," Gannon wrote on his personal Web page that because of the attention "I find it is no longer possible to effectively be a reporter for Talon News" and that he is quitting "in consideration of the welfare of me and my family." Gannon added in a brief interview that "my family has been victimized" and that he wanted to "put some separation between Talon News and the White House."

Let the liberal media focus on this insignifant story. There are bigger fish to fry.

Talon news aways struck me as a bogus "news agency."

Y'know, according to these presstitutes, Dana Milbank or Terry Moran or Helen (gag) Thomas could never ask President Bush a "loaded question." Scum, all of them.

Although I am amused at a liberal blog calling itself "World o' Crap." They aren't violating any truth-in-advertising laws, for sure.

Interesting stuff.

The "press" eating the "press".

The sharks smell blood in the water. Can a feeding frenzy be far behind.

Shall we sit back and watch them devour each other? ;)

Howie was even less concerned about all the Clinton WH staffers who could not get security clearances.

They're lynching this guy because he's a conservative journalist. Meanwhile, biased morons like Helen Thomas are celebrated. There is no end to leftwing hypocrisy.

They would never have gone after him if he had asked a question like "when did you stop beating your wife. These pathetic stupid lefties are soooo obvious. and the amazing thing is they don't even realize it.

No, Kurtz is not a PUTZ, he is a PUTZFACE.

Big difference in nuance and kind.

Seems to me too many "Posties" are involved in ferreting out folks on Donald Graham's enemies list. This is going to make it difficult for them to get other employment in the future.

Of course the WaPo has a Nixon style "enemies list". Don't you recall when they sued FreeRepublic?

That's one of the reasons they've tracked down background identities ~ so they can drag us into court in the future.

They're writing it off as a legitimate business expense.

All of this means there's someone filled with paranoia pretty near the top of the organization. Odds are it's an "hereditary" sort of thing, too, and that makes Don Graham himself the leading candidate.

--- The "press" eating the "press". ---

Its more than that.

The press is predominantly liberal and they are not eating other liberals.

In fact, I have noticed where I live, a strong shift in the tactics of the left. They are going after Conservative Republican politicians, bloggers, and activists one at a time with private detectives, etc.. and gathering dirt and then using the internet to launch their attacks on these guys.

By posting it on the web first, they can raise it to a level that the papers can then pick it up, even though it is so sleazy the papers would have never picked it up directly.

Of course, a guy who posts pictures of himself in sexual poses on the internet is setting himself up, but this is bigger than that. This appears to be a coherent strategy being promulgated over a much wider area than coincidence would explain.

Asked if digging into someone's personal and business activities was proper retaliation, Moulitsas (Markos Moulitsas, a San Francisco liberal who writes the popular Kos site,) said: "If that's what it took to really bring attention to him, it's one of those unfortunate facts of reality in the way we operate today. It's sex that really draws attention to these things."

Now that we know the rules you play by it will be interesting to see what can be dug up on you.

I dunno. What exactly are the libs upset about? "Jeff Gannon" appears to have posed in his underwear (a plus for most libs). He appears to have registered several homo website names (a plus for most libs). He did not attend college as a journalism major (not a problem - Peter Jennings dropped out of high school).

No, the reason the libs are trying to smear him by attributing liberal traits to him (he may be gay, he is undereducated, etc..) is because he refused to ask the 20th consecutive Abu Ghraib question. He would ask a question from a conservative perspective after ten questions from a liberal persepective. The Whitehouse press room has no room for diversity of opinion.

It would be fun to do some background on each of the Whitehouse press reporters. Maybe in my spare time.
