Pierre Pierce, a former leading scorer for the Hawkeyes, was charged with first-degree burglary, assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, two domestic abuse charges including one with a weapon, false imprisonment and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Pierce will be booked at the West Des Moines Police Department and transported to the Dallas County Jail. He then will be taken to the Dallas County Courthouse for the initial arraignment at 1 p.m., according to a news release from the police department.
Pierce was dismissed from the Hawkeyes team Feb. 2.
The police investigation stems from a complaint at the West Des Moines condo of a woman whom Pierce had been dating for 2½ years.
In 2002, Pierce faced a felony charge of third-degree sexual abuse of a female student-athlete at the University of Iowa. He later pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of assault causing serious injury -- a misdemeanor.
Pierce agreed to perform 200 hours of community service, and to sit out the 2002-2003 basketball season.
I'll reserve judgement until the facts come out, but damn!
How can anyone be stupid enough to throw away at most a future in the NBA (He has the talent) or at least a free education?
