Colorado delegate determined to end illegals aid

DENVER -- For state Rep. David Schultheis, the choice is clear: The Colorado legislature can pass his bill preventing illegal immigrants from receiving non-emergency state and county services.

Or legislators can watch the proposal ignite an Arizona-style political wildfire as it goes before the voters as a November 2006 ballot initiative.

"The public really wants this," Mr. Schultheis, a Republican who represents northern Colorado Springs, said yesterday. "We are going to do everything we can to get this before the public in some form or another."

I think the public really wants it in most states, but as we have seen already---the judges and some politicians don't really care what the people want---

I am sure that the ACLU, LULAC, Rainbow Push, AARP, dems, will all make this become a very national fight because we know that Tom Tancredo is the premier Washington congressman that is in favor of immigration reform--also, a lot of people think that Bill Owens, the Governor, has Presidential aspirations--

Therefore, I am sure that Dean and the dems and the above named groups would like to smash both men at one time in one of the red states--(except Boulder and the Front Range area).

Just grandstanding by politicians. The vast majority of illegals come to work. not to get on welfare.

If the legislators were really serious they would call for their state and local police to enforce the laws against hiring illegal immigrants.

Start busting employers and you will dry up the demand for illegal laborers and they will move on to other states.

Can anyone take a guess at why these grandstanding legislators wouldn't want their state police busting the employers of illegals? (Remember, the new CBP will train them for free and welcomes their participation)

There is something happening here. Some states are taking this issue to task on an individual basis. Maybe Bush will not have to worry about it. State rights could very easily prevail here. It would seem the states affected the most. Arizona, Colorado, and California have been the first to react. I am sure more will follow.
