European "Union" urged to see Russia as "big Norway"
Russia Journal ^ | February 8, 2005 | Russian kamerad

The European Union can and must see Russia as a “big Norway,” Mikhail Krotov, secretary-general of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), told RBC on Monday.

Russia was a country rich in natural resources and capable of cooperating with the EU “in a special regime, in the light of its interests,” he said.

Norway, outside the EU on reasons of principle, had built a “special relationship” with the overcrowded EU, poor in natural resources, Krotov said, noting that “Russians should learn from Norwegians.”

Yeah, the Russians could learn a lot from Norway--things such as the rule of law, honoring contracts, &c., &c., &c.

This is an excerpt from the article itself, but the rest of it deals with Russian relations with Old Europe, with no mention of Norway, the Nebraska of Europe.

"Ping" for the Norway ping list; if any lurkers in here wish to be informed of events in Norway, our steadfast allies in the War against Terror, holler at me, and I'll put you on the Norway ping list.

Nothing much appears to have happened in Norway today, and I was really digging to the bottom of the barrel, to come up with this.

One wonders what the reaction of the Norwegians is, to their elder brothers in Denmark re-electing, and with reinforced numbers, a conservative government down there--but thus far, no mention of reaction in any of the Norway sites, including the usually-reliable "Aftenposten," perhaps the most excellent newspaper in all of Europe, at least on the internet.

It (learning from Norwegians) has so far been unsuccessful for 1100+ years by now - since 862 (calling the Varangians -i.e. the Vikings). Why should it be any different now?

After seeing, first-hand and up-close, how Russians handle their liquor, sir, I doubt the Russians are capable of learning anything from the civilized world.

I'm not sure who should be insulted more by the comparison - the Russians, or the Norwegians.

Well, sir, it has been my pleasure to meet, and get to know, Russians by the acre (but it was even better with the Ukrainians and Moldovans), and while of course I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for people stuggling to survive in a hostile world (made hostile by rampant corruption), and while I have never met a Norwegian in my life.....to be honest, I would rather have one Norwegian covering my back, than a thousand Russians or 500 Ukrainians.

Well, if Norwegian women are anything like this tall blonde Swede I used to be, uh, close 'friends' with, then make room in the trenches for me. *MEOW* *PURRRRRR*

But after reading the news from Norway this past weekend--I had never in my life paid so much attention to Norway until these past thirteen days--one gets the impression Norwegians would rather get liquored up, than sexed up; in fact, I am surprised at the lack of "sex news" in the Norwegian media, unless I am looking at the wrong places.

How about we crash Oslo, get liquored up, then sexed up? Sounds like Norwegian women need us. They just don't know it yet. LMAO

You're on, sir, sometime in the vague future--not tomorrow, not next week, but sometime for sure.

I have heard, though, that the women of Stavanger are better looking, and with more-pleasant personalities, than the women of Oslo.

The booze there is damn expensive...I went out one night when I was visiting Norway and I still don't remember how much I spent...well that's happened before...

Anyway I was visiting a town on the Southern coast...the Norwegians will actually take the ferry to Denmark for no other reason the to buy the duty free booze...that's how expensive it is...

Also why did they remove post 16? Do they do that kinda of stuff often here?
