Why is this important? Because thew French and other European negotiators will be singularly unsuccessful in disarming Iran with jaw-boning. They will fail, and once again, the United States will be left to decide whether they will be going it alone in Iran (I am not certain Britain would go with yus this time).
Actually, I don't think the French care if Iran becomes nuclear. French hubris persuades them they can 'contain' and 'control' and prevent the Iranians from doing anything to France, which is all France really cares about. Germany is along for the ride. And the Brits, while well meaning, have too many financial interests in Iran and they are spent with Iraq.
All these 'negotiations' are just window dressing. The objective is to keep the issue from going before the UN Security Counsel for as long as possible. It may never get to the UN. I doubt if sanctions will ever be imposed on Iran, and even if they are, the Iraq experience shows they will be ineffective.
It's Iraq all over again, except the delay is starting even before it goes to the UN, Iran is much further along in developing a nuke, and Iran is a much greater sponsor of terrorism than Iraq was.
The only real unknown is what the US will do about it. If we do nothing (and Israel does nothing), Iran will go nuclear. Israel may try to stop them, but they may be unsuccessful.
HAND OF FRIENDSHIP!!!!! WE NEED TO GIVE THEM A BOOT UP THEIR REAR!!!!!!!
Secretary Rice?
"America stands ready to work with Europe on our common agenda and Europe must stand ready to work with America," she said."
One can only imagine what Dr Rice said behind closed doors to the slimey Frogs.
Waaaaaaaaaaaah!
Sniff...sniff
"The thing that bothers me most about France's betrayal is for how little their help can be bought.
Oil for food may be the biggest fraud in human history, but compared to the cost America has paid defending France for almost the last 100 years is peanuts..."
I would say that we have more then repaid our debt to France for their help in the Revolutionary War and the Statue of Liberty.
"I'd argue that the War of 1812 and the Louisiana Purchase about covered their help during the Rev. War."
Ooooh. The Louisiana purchase was the biggest steal in real estate history, some like 10 million dollars, right? Either way, we be in agreement bro.
