Letter to the Editor - Hawk Talk
To the Editor:
Marriage is an easy concept to grasp through which runs the most common thread of humanity and existence; the ability to love one another wholeheartedly and commit to each other forever. However simple as this concept is, there are those who do not feel this right should be given to all human beings and decide to make distinctions between those who choose to wed someone of the opposite gender and those that choose to wed someone of the same gender. Gay marriage is being seen as a different from heterosexual marriage, and every state in the United States, except Massachusetts does not seem to grasp the root of what marriage truly means; the deep love of two individuals and their bond together with no concern as to their sexual orientation, but only their relationship with one another.
The association equalmarriage.org realizes that all citizens of the United States should be given the right to marry freely no matter their sexual orientation, and be given the chance to partake in one of the simplest and most profound rituals. During the week of February 12th through February 19th 2005, the association will promote equal marriage and equal rights and advocate for gay marriage to be legalized across the entire United States. Hudson High Schools Gay Straight Alliance will be helping the association by promoting equal marriage during the specified week here at school.
Marriage is a right that everyone deserves to share in, The Beatles seemed to sum this up best when they sang, All You Need is Love Help the equalmarriage.org association and the Hudson High G.S.A. to spread this massage during equal marriage week. Thank You,
The Hudson High School G.S.A.

We need a link.
They don't publish online. They send hardcopy home with the students.
Wow! Who knew marriage was a right? Heck, why do all these cutting edge journalistic coups go to high school newspapers and Jack Chick? The MSM must be steamed!
Alright, I've changed my mind of the issue. It's "All You Need is Love" that really got to me.
Absolutly right. Who could argue against that kind of logic? I believe "Love Makes The World Go Round" should put and end to any discussion in the scientific community about Gravity and the rotation of the Earth!
I checked the original that was scanned. it does say massage. Freudian maybe?
Semper Fi
LOL!
Who edited that thing? Poorly written, poorly edited and poorly thought out.
This concept of marriage is VERY modern and utterly peculiar to Western cultures. The idea that it is inherent in all of human existence is preposterous.
So they make up their own definition and proclaim the rest of the world is wrong because they don't accept it. Pretty slick.
By the way, I wish to announce to the world that my newly created definition of "dry" is "soaked with water". All of you who don't immediately agree with me are mean, spiteful bigots who just hate me for my moistness.
Was this a child? Someone who's never been married is going to lecture others on what marriage is?
Marriage is two things in our culture; a civil status, and a religious sacrament. Now, not everyone opts for the latter; if you find a church that will marry a same-sex couple, and if that's what you're looking for, there's nothing to stop you. You just get no legal rights or recognition from it.
So I presume that you're looking for the former, a civil union between two people of the same sex that will grant you the rights generally pertaining to married couples.
At that point, since all we're talking about is the legal definition of marriage, I invite you to bust open all the law books you want. Please find me one that uses the word "love" in it's definition of marriage. There isn't. And why do you think that would be? Because just how is the state to determine whether two people are in love? If marriage is to be granted on the basis of love between two people, it can't just take their word for it, it has to be able to measure it. And the state cannot do so. So civil marriage has nothing to do with love, and you're redefinition of marriage falls apart.
Students are brainwashed either by their liberal teachers or their liberal parents. Nobody including "committed" individuals really realizes what marriage is truly about until they have had a successful marriage, that has endured trials and tribulations. She is speaking of lust....not love. Males and females alone can have this "incredible bond", because of God's design for marriage. Love isn't enough, it requires so much more.
I actually graduated from this high school in the 70's. They weren't nearly this screwed up, but then...whose high school was?
A friend of mine sent an email to the Superintendent of Schools, Sheldon Berman, and here is the canned response he got:
