DUCKABUSH - Two men suspected of stealing Sea-Doo personal watercraft from Brinnon got into more trouble on Dabob Bay, about 12 miles south of the Hood Canal Bridge.
One man rescued from the water has been arrested by Jefferson County deputies, and a Coast Guard search continues for a second man.
Petty Officer Mike Zolzer in Seattle says the Coast Guard first received a call just after 6 a.m. Tuesday from someone who heard a man in the water calling for help.
He was picked up by a Navy security boat from the Bangor submarine base. He told a Jefferson County deputy that there is another man still in the water.
Zolzer says both stolen watercraft have been recovered.
It's unknown what incident put the men in the water. They have not been identified. It's unknown if the missing man is wearing a life jacket or a suit for protection from the cold water.
The search continues with Navy, Jefferson County and Coast Guard boats and a helicopter from Port Angeles.

I heard that thefts (car prowls and burglaries) are up a bit all along the canal this past year - if you can't tie it down or lock it up, you better make sure your powder is dry...

I noticed an article in the P-I about clam digging in the Hood Canal area. Are these edible, clam chowder type clams ?

Good luck!
Clamming on the canal isn't the same as on an ocean beach - the shoreline tends to be much rockier and the clams smaller. They're tasty, however, and worth the effort.
Personally, I'm into the oysters. The native species have been almost completely supplanted by an orient one that was introduced years ago. They are huge and Delicious!
