February 7, 2005

A bullet hole is left in a window at a deputy's home in Dunn County.
Sheriff Dennis Smith announced Monday the department is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
The shooting is believed to be retaliation for a drug arrest the officer made.
The money has been donated from other area law enforcement agencies and unions including the FBI and the West Central Drug Task Force.
"Officers from all around are pretty upset about it," says Smith. "There was phone calls right and left of people calling up to offer some kind of money to go towards the reward.
Those with information are asked to contact the Dunn County Sheriff's tipster line at 231-2907.

Reward Offered in Drive-By Shooting Investigation
Menomonie
Feb 7, 2005
The Dunn County Sheriff's Department wants help solving a drive-by shooting case, so it's going to the public with a big reward.
A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
Sheriff Dennis Smith believes the suspect, or suspects, will talk about the case. He hopes someone will be listening and come forward with information.
The shooting happened at a deputy's home on January 27th. Someone fired at the house while he and his family were sleeping. No one was hurt and there are no suspects. Bullets went through windows, across rooms and into walls. "It's one thing to be in danger at work, but it's an entirely different situation to have our family and our homes be at risk," said Sheriff Smith. He believes the deputy was targeted because of his work on drug cases locally and at the federal level in Madison.
If you have any information about the case, call the confidential tipster line at (715) 231-2907.
And everybody knows where Dune County and the 2 TV stations are located.
Menominee, Wisconsin, is about as rural as Wisconsin gets. Population is about 4,600 and 88% American Indian.
Almost certainly meth cookers.
Its Dunn Co. were Menomonie is located. And its about 70 miles east of Minneapolis/St. Paul MN.
The TV stations are in the next county over Eau Claire. Which is 40 miles southeast of Menomonie.
Menomonie is more like 15,000 and only a few Indians.
The problem is being on I-94 and a hour drive from the big city. you get cookers heading over here to make meth.
Okey-doke. An hour from the twin cities, hmm?
Not a good situation.
? another shot ordered from a jail/prison/recreation/country club??
/social 'workers'?
/psychiatric 'drug pushers'?
