cockpits secure, phoned in threat.
cockpits secure, phoned in threat.
They just said everything seems to be ok now.
They first said the planes had been hijacked.
Weird...waiting for more info
Ted Kennedy must be angry there isn't any scotch on board.
I'll be lathering up and will check back soon.
MSNBC says they had hijacking threats.
Odd... Were the threats phoned in from the planes, or from the ground? I'm betting the latter -- some jerk probably found a couple of closely-spaced flights into JFK on the "Flight Status" website, and thought it'd be fun to pull a prank.
If there was a false hijack threat on one plane, that could cause other flight crews to get paranoid and issue their own false hijack threat. The fact that there were two threats does not by itself mean that this is the "real deal."
bttt
Delta announced 800 layoffs in LA yesterday....moving the reservations centers to India.
I suspect this is what is going on here.
Wow- Freepers rule- thanks!! I don't see this anywhere on the net yet.
Very soon, someone will join this thread who doesn't like the fact that FReepers like to theorize about causes.
Prediction marker!
Fox News says Delta flight 81 is the focus. It is being checked and there "could be a person of interest" on board.
i see herridge still has the brutal haircut.
"person of interest" Was Cat Stevens on the plane again?
lol
This is what Fox News web-site is reporting.
Hijacking Scare Holds Up Two Delta Flights
Friday, February 04, 2005
NEW YORK Two flights were temporarily held up upon landing at New York Citys JFK Airport (search) Friday after a phone call came in about a hijacking, FOX News has confirmed.
A threatening call came in warning of hijackers onboard Delta Flight 119 en route from Paris and originating in Bombay, along with possible problems with Delta Flight 81 en route from Amsterdam. The planes landed about the same time.
Both were apparently cleared for arrival a short time later and their cockpits secured after police checked the situation, FOX confirmed with an aviation source close to the situation.
Early reports suggested "suspicious" activity onboard, but there were few other details immediately available.
FOX News' Catherine Donaldson-Evans and Catherine Herridge contributed to this report.

Looks like this one's already over, but FYI.
