This is not new at all. The Mayas in the Yucatan area of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and El Salvador areas practiced this and even left temple carvings depicting the act of taking alcoholic beverages via enema. It was a means of becoming INCREDIBLY drunk. More than likely, a good number of them died from alcohol poisoning as well. "There is nothing new under the sun...."

This subject was posted yesterday, and I'm still trying to figure out if she was just an enabler, or intended to kill him.

Oh, forgot to mention, the reason they did that was because alcohol irritates the stomach and can cause vomiting. Taking alcohol via enema eliminates (no pun intended) that problem, allowing one to ingest higher quantities of alcohol.

I get the feeling this is more commonplace than people think. When I was a freshman at college I remember a student asking about this in the school newspaper "ask anything" section.

That was in Lubbock,TX 1996. Draw your own conclusions.

I remember around Ithaca a man once gave himself a vodka enema on the theory that, if he needed to drive, he wouldnt get caught for DWI b/c the police wouldnt be able to smell it on his breath

Burning the will a month ago? A 1.5L bottle instead of a diluted airline-sized bottle? Sounds like premeditation to me...

You're absolutely right on this. Even the specially shaped pots have been found. I guess that's where the expression sh*t faced drunk came from.

Somehow I think there's a joke in here about the guy who had the large statue of a "buttock" on his lawn the other day....
