Policemen guarding a polling station in Baghdad's Mansour neighborhood Sunday recognized the suicide bomber immediately. The young man was wearing Chinese-made high-top tennis shoes, a leather jacket and a red head scarf - the same kind of clothes as worn by an attacker at another site that same day.

Stepping over blood to vote...yet in Ohio they complain if the line is 1/2 hour long. Go figure.

This is a man who deserves to be called a martyr. Not the murderous scum that try to hijack the term.

How in the world is a 29-year-old guy a 14-year police veteran? I doubt even Saddam started with 15-year-olds in his security forces. But nevermind that...

I heard on Rush today that of the 45 casualties in the voting, 8 were suicide bombers (not a good kill ratio for the terr's), and of those 8, 7 were Saudi's.

If the information in the opening paragraphs about this man is correct, then his career as a "police officer" started when he was 15 years old.

The biggest problem we face in this world is that we are dealing with a serious cultural divide. People in these countries grow up quickly, while most people here in the U.S. never grow up at all.

Iraq could use many more heros like this guy.

Mabye he should have just pulled his sidearm and shoved a couple rounds into that scumbag's skull.

On Monday, interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi eulogized Shuwayli in televised remarks and declared him a young democracy's first champion. "The martyr gave his life for his country," Allawi said. "Abdul Amir is a real hero of our nation."

Amen.

It also tore the bomber apart, leaving only his face intact

Jesus Christ. That would look ghoulish.

His name is 'hero'.

Someday in the near future, I hope his and other like him have their names carved on to a memorial that the soon to be recognized founding fathers or Iraq demand be built.

Sitting next to that memorial, another one, with the names of the American and British dead.

Officers fired rifles into the air to disperse traffic so the police vehicles could leave quickly before becoming targets.

Now I know how to get out of my parking building quicker at 5pm.

Why do you doubt that? Before the government turned school into daycare, Americans did not consider a 15 year old to be a child.

The biggest problem we face in this world is that we are dealing with a serious cultural divide. People in these countries grow up quickly, while most people here in the U.S. never grow up at all.

That's because Iraqis as a group are much poorer so children must earn their keep from an early age. Most people work until they drop, as well. That was true in the US before WWII. Families of modest means obviously have limited ability to support members who don't earn their keep.
