Instead of using logic and telling me why a search engine would make a difference, you resort to calling me a Pervert instead. Surely this is an omen, that people will be flocking to you for your technical savvy down the road.

A regular Pied Piper you are....

You ain't talking to me, are you?

You look through my history. On any tech thread you'll never see where I slammed Apple, or was/am a Linux sycophant, or am a mindless Mozilla flunky. On the contrary, when MS or Mozilla deserves it, I give praise or condemnation.

Quasi has been this way since he got here, and I'm just in the mood to take him down a notch and have fun doing it.

What's with all the whining this morning?

Hmm. On news of the new MSN search, Google shares went....

North!

Shares climbed as high as $216.80 before settling back to $211.96, a gain of $20.06. That's up from the previous lifetime high of $205.30 set last month.

So much for MS moving and shaking the market, huh?

Quasi is the only one I've gone after, and it's easy to see why.

Would it make you happy if this was moved to the "Smoky Backroom"?

I'm just talking in general.

And "whining" implies that there's no justification for a complaint:  frankly, I think there is.  This happens on every single thread regarding computers.  Even threads like this one, which have nothing to do with Operating Systems, break down within 10-15 posts into little snide, ignorant OS flame wars between people who -by and large- probably aren't even technology professionals.

It's worse than SlashDot.

Hell, even the Evolution/Creation threads can remain coherent for 30 posts.

It may very well happen on "every single thread", but certainly not by me. I have gone after Quasi exclusively.

He's been a troll from the get-go, but he's still here, and if and until they decide to get rid of him, I figure I'll just rattle his chain while in the mood. (Note that I've left him alone on several of his threads).

Be careful. Sell your soul to the Company Store or be called trailer trash.

I advocate open, well-documented file formats - especially when taxpayer money is involved - and an appropriate mix of open source and proprietary technology for most computer users.

Amen, Hal. Open file formats should be a non-negotiable requirement for government agencies. I work on government contracts from time to time, and the process is in many ways exceptionally open. Accountability requires it, and the public benefits from it.
