Now without searching his name, how many know who Gail Halvorsen is?
To: perfect stranger
Well I don't, but it seems like a scando name, not german.

Great story. I have a similar one from a contract signing in Dubai. It made me wonder why my company was even doing business with the arrogant scum. I'm sure you must sometimes feel the same.
I'm afraid I didn't know who Gail was without searching. Certainly a name your apologetic associate should have known...except all the history books have been rewritten there. DeGaulle saved Europe.

I had to look, but then when I did I saw that I should have known because I saw a documentary recently that featured Gail Halverson. The candy bomber during the Berlin airlift. Good story and posting, thank you.
A few years ago I was working in Europe with a very diverse work team. It also just happened to be during the 2000 US election and most of the Europeans I was working with wanted algore to win. That more than anything else made me want to tell my European co-workers that I'm glad their opinions didn't have an effect on our elections.
And then I couldn't help rubbing their smug noses in it when it was apparent that President Bush was the President-elect. The only one of the team that I could stand to have a political discussion with was a Hindu, originally from India. He made sense, he was articulate and had reason and logic instead of only "feelings", to back up his support of GWB.

I searched, but I'm not German and my parents didn't receive any of the candy bombers kind gifts.
Gail Halvorsen.
