Seems like activity is centering around the green zone. I've read, and heard on the radio, several reports about attacks on the green zone, and Iraqi forces fighting insurgents around the green zone.

The problem with this is that it seems so fortuitous. I bet that the insurgents now think that they are blessed by Allah, and that he granted them this 'victory' on the eve of the election. In a propaganda war, these things matter.
