Reed sides with GOP before court

OLYMPIA — Secretary of State Sam Reed filed court papers this week siding with Republicans on key legal issues in the lawsuit over the governor's election, saying, for example, that the dispute should stay in the courts and not move to the Legislature as Democrats want.

Reed said that in court, the Republicans' effort to have Gov. Christine Gregoire removed from office and to force a new election can be decided in "a prompt, orderly, and non-partisan manner."

Reed is a Republican and the state's chief election official. In the nearly three months of legal wrangling over the Nov. 2 election, he has sided at various times with Democrats or Republicans. His apparent nonpartisan approach has angered some Republicans who thought he should aggressively fight for Dino Rossi.

I am from King County and I don't think any republicans should be mad at Reed. He had to certify her, he also certified Rossi twice. He is a good guy who is stuck in a hard place, he has spoken out about the problems of this election and wants them looked at. He can only do his job, he does not have the power to change the results just because he thinks Rossi is the winner. I heard an interview he did on KVI and he completely supports Rossi and has all along.

Baloney! The Dems in Olympia love him. He's easy to get along with, and they love compliant RINOS. If/when we do get to revote, I hope we revote the entire ballot. And if we do, Reed will lose his job. ampr4life you should be reading www.soundpolitics.com and get the real story of what's going on. Reed is a Democrat shill running as a RINO.

Appears to me he is a man with alot of character. Putting principle over party is rare but admirable. Happens sometimes in the Republican party, never in the Democrat party save Zell Miller

He's a character all right. One that accedes to the political squeaky wheels because he hasn't got the stones to do his job. As a result he has reduced the office of Secretary of State to a rubber stamp figurehead ('rat flavor).

It happens more often that you might imagine....

I MIGHT agree with you about Reed, EXCEPT....he spent the past 4 years TALKING about what he was going to do about Election cleanup - and DOING not much, it appears.

He must of seen the latest polls. A majority of the people side with Rossi. I saw it on Worldnet daily or Newsmax. If a revote was done Rossi 53% Witch 43%

Listen I listened to him on KVI and he was only doing his job. The liberal press just makes it sound like he turned on us and is endorsing Gregoire because they want to cause problems for us. Yes we can be upset that problems in our voting system were not fixed before the election by him, but you can't expect Reed to do things that he can't do! He can only do what his job allows him to do. If he could declare Rossi the winner and fix everything that went wrong he would, but that is not up to him. It is up to the courts now.

I definitly agree with you on that, those problems should have been fixed. But he is not the one who stole this election, and I don't think we should be attacking him just because he had to do his job and certify him. And I dont think we should be running around calling him a RINO just because the seattle times quotes him out of context on a daily basis.
