African-American Support for Rice (Brit Hume interviews Juan Williams)
Fox News Channel ^ | Jan. 27, 2005 | Juan Willians & Brit Hume

WILLIAMS: Oh, let me just tell you something. The phone has been ringing off the hook with people saying, wait a second. Why are they beating up on Condoleezza Rice (search) in terms of the president’s policy in Iraq? What’s going on? Why don’t they take on the big boy and go after the president. That is who they want to go after. But why go after someone who is imminently qualified?

AND,
...
WILLIAMS: Black — especially black men. And therefore, don’t get the full benefit. They could benefit from changes in Social Security (search) and those reforms. That message penetrates with younger black people. And as much I might add, it penetrates with younger white. But what you see is that younger black people are not all sort of automatically opposed to hearing a message from a Republican, conservative president.

Thought you'd be interested in this. BTW, I did finally get to watch the tape from the other night and it was impressive.

I saw this interview the other night. Usually I rush for the mute button when I see Juan WIlliams. I am very glad I listened to him this time.

It was a very insightful interview. Didn't know Juan had it in him to be level headed and honest.

Why give the loony Juan Williams a free pass simply because he he "sees the light" on one itty-bitty self-serving issue??

Quite frankly, I'm surprised more liberals haven't been won over by the Bush Administration's domestic socialist tendencies.

I've never seen him when he wasn't.

This from the same guy who, years ago, said on National Television that the US should be flooded by millions of immigrants to break the back of the white power structure...

So, you don't actually watch Fox, then?

Nine percent in 2000 translated to eleven percent in 2004. My guess is this will translate to at least 10 percent for the GOP in 2006 and 2008. Don't be fooled by what Williams, Young and others are saying. The Democrats know that they have the Black vote in their pocket and that vote will stay there. How many times have we seen Powell and Rice depicted as Uncle Tom or Aunt Jemiah or as "oreos" with no outrage expressed by Black leadership? This is no different.

I agree. I don't always agree with him. Sometimes he gets ideas in this head, especially leftist ideas, but he tries hard to be reasonable. He's a man of faith and seems to truly care about people--all people. I think he and Brit have a mutual respect for one another. Brit does his fair share of correcting him, but Juan always handles it well. I've assumed that he realizes Brit respects him and therefore doesn't get upset with differences of opinion.

I don't have cable/sattellite, so I only catch the Sunday broadcast from time to time. I have never seen ol' Juan when he wasn't a half-baked illogical loon. Ever.

Very nice post. Glad to see that a younger generation of African American is willing to look at the present day situation and think outside the box (that would be "the box" to which the Hypocrats have confined black leadership for decades).

Yesterday on FOX I saw an interview with Dr. Kissinger regarding Dr. Rice's confirmation. I thought "A Jewish former Secretary of State talking about an African American woman as the new Secretary of State, who is replacing an African American man in the same job...all Republican appointments, by the way."

The Hypocrats NEVER gave such prominent positions to minorities. Republicans have, in the only way the jobs should be awarded: MERIT.

I'm full of hope that all Americans, regardless of their "liberal label" will begin to take note of this.

This is truly impressive - it is as if the Democratic logjam is finally breaking, and the truth is finally coming out.

The last time I watched Juan was the day he lamented that the maybe the exit polls were right and the election results were wrong.

Hard to give any credibility at all to such a boob.

I agree. He is one of the most ridiculous guests Fox has and I change the channel when he is on. His only strength is that he is better than CiCi from the Post.

"He is one of the most ridiculous guests Fox has..."

A living breathing cartoon character.

How could so many be fooled?

His "seeing the light" regarding Condi is clearly a diversion, motivated in large measure by the heat and ridicule he's received lately at Free Republic and elsewhere for being a BOOB.

Many are taking the bait here.

At the Republican Convention, Williams was on the floor and acting perfectly normal and reasonable, not at all like the ignorant horse's ass we see on Sunday mornings; I was surprised.
