A BURNING swastika was found on a grave in a Jewish cemetery in southern Sweden just hours after world leaders commemorated the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz.
Police said the burning symbol of the Third Reich was discovered at a cemetery in Norrkoeping. "Someone gathered candles from the graves and shaped them like a swastika and lit the candles," said local duty officer Paer Aake Olsson.
"This is agitation against a religious group and is a crime ... We have gathered shoe prints from the area and have taken pictures of the grave, so we have the clues we need."
Before you go off too much, bear in mind that the swastika does not have Nazi connotations in all cultural groups. This may have been a heartfelt act as the swastika is considered a positive sign by some rural people and Sweden has its share of them.
If it was an act of hate, then go get 'em.
I'm just saying that not all use of a swastika means the person using it is a Nazi.

I am afraid that you are kidding youself.
The Russian Army liberated Aushiwitz correct?
Wasn't Russia killing their own Jews at this time, or shortly before this time?
Only in India!
Before, IIRC.
I sent you the links. If you think that only the Nazis used and use the swastika then it is you who are kidding yourself. I work for a tech firm in California and we have a large Hindu population who have swastikas in the cubicles. It pisses off the Jewish folks to no end, but it shouldn't because the Hindu use of the sybol has nothing to do with Naziism.
As I said, if this is indeed an act of hate, go get the criminals. But bear in mind that not all Swedes consider the swastika a 'Nazi' symbol as it was used in Sweden long before the Nazis appropriated the symbol.
The Russians killed millions of people before this, but the program specifically targeting "cosmopolites" (i.e. Jews) was after WWII.
I am Norwegian. The vikings used the swastica.
But, do you really think a bunch of happy hindus vandalised a graveyard by taking candles from other graves to create a burning swastica in some sort of impromptu holocaust memorial?
You're dreaming.
"Wasn't Russia killing their own Jews at this time, or shortly before this time?"
Yep. They have also taken responsibility for the Katyn Forest Massacre.
At the current time Putin is taking steps to stop anti-Jewish hate crimes in Russia so, hopefully, these atrocities are a thing of the past in Russia.
And it's too bad the Nazis adopted the swastika, because it is a cool looking symbol. Damn Nazis ruining everything.
There should be no tolerance. But that's the left's great dilemma and contradiction. Their tolerance is for that for which all should be intolerant. And their intolerance is for those who disagree. But in this case, if not in the case of Mao or Stalin, still heroes to too many of them, at least all people can agree to be intolerant. There is nothing virtuous about Nazism, anymore than there is about Stalinism and the USSR concept of agression against 'euro' by whatever means. The symbols of the Nazis ought to be suppressed, their party, or new and neo-parties outlawed and banned from the ballots.
In California, too. Indians (from India) at my workplace have swastikas displayed and their use of it has nothing to do with Naziism.
It is a recurring HR theme here that Jewish and liberal folks get all in a dither over this and my firm has to remind them that 'multiculturalism' is a double-edged sword.
Bear in mind, please, that I am NOT a Nazi. I am just aware that this symbol is not evil to everyone.
No, but it is entirely possible, given that this is Scandinavia, that someone did this *not* as an act of hate.
I'll leave it to the authorities to determine if it was an act of hate or not. If it was I'll expect them to act accordingly. If not, I'll expect them to educate the well-meaning person that swastikas don't mean the same thing to Jewish folks as they do to other people.
"And it's too bad the Nazis adopted the swastika, because it is a cool looking symbol. Damn Nazis ruining everything."
I am so in agreement with you there. The symbol used to be quite popular in America and around the world. The US Army Air Corps used the swastika on American planes detached with the French in WW1.
There was a lawsuit in the 1990's where a Jewish fellow was offended because the Hopi Nation built a bridge on tribal lands and covered it in swastikas as that is a symbol of blessing to the Hopi. It had nothing to do with Naziism. The Federal Court ruled properly that the Hopi can do whatever they see fit on their tribal lands without interference from intolerant individuals.
The Jewish people need to get past their victim-hood and move on. The Holocaust happened. The Nazis are dead. And just because you see a swastika does not mean a Nazi (or even just a plain old idiot) is behind it.
"A burning swastika"
These were 'candles' which is why I am considering that it may not be malicious. If it were some ass pouring gasoline and lighting a fire on the grass I'd have no doubt that it was some moron in dire need of a butt-kicking.
Are you for real?
I guess you won't get upset then if I go to where your grandparents are buried and cover the graves with satanic paraphenelia? Maybe a nice pentagram or an upside down cross.
Doesn't necessarily mean it's put there with bad intentions.
Do you still think it's ok?
The swastika is not a uniquely Nazi symbol.
The Nazis also used numbers, the Roman alphabet, flags, banners, and paper documents.
Should we ban these things, too?
