GOP: Felons, dead people voted in Wash.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Republicans asking a judge to throw out the results of Washington's ultra-close gubernatorial election said Wednesday they have found that 300 ballots were cast illegally by felons and others.

The ballots included people who voted twice, or in the names of people who died before absentee ballots were mailed back, state GOP leaders said.

Those votes, combined with 437 provisional ballots that were illegally fed directly into voting machines, should call Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire's 129-vote victory over Republican Dino Rossi into question, the GOP said.

"Clearly we have more illegal votes than the margin of victory," state Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance said. "The law is on our side."

Rossi had narrow leads after the first count and a machine recount, but Gregoire won in a hand recount of the 2.9 million ballots cast Nov. 2. Republicans have filed a legal challenge in Chelan County Superior Court; Judge John E. Bridges has scheduled the next hearing for Feb. 4.

Republicans contend that mistakes such as the counting of 737 illegal ballots spoiled the election to the point that the real winner can never be known. They are pushing for a new election.

The state Democratic Party and several of the counties have filed motions to dismiss the case. Democrats say that while the election was close, the Republicans' evidence isn't enough to nullify the election and Gregoire is the legitimate governor.

"The GOP has regularly exaggerated problems in the election," state Democratic Party spokeswoman Kirstin Brost said Wednesday in a news release.

Republicans allege that 240 felons whose voting rights had not been restored cast ballots in the election, and that 16 ballots were from people who had voted twice, either casting two ballots in Washington state or ballots in Washington and another state. Vance said party officials found another 44 people who died before absentee ballots were mailed.

The King County prosecutor has asked the county sheriff to investigate four possible cases of voter fraud, prosecutor's spokesman Dan Donohoe said. Three involve people suspected of voting on behalf of dead relatives, and one is a person who may have voted twice.

People voted more than once.
Deceased people voted.
Mixed in provisional ballots with regular ballots
They "enhanced" ballots with white tape and black marker
They are more counted votes than registered voters
They "found" ballots on 9 different occasions.

The vast majority of Washingtonians want a Re-Vote. Check it out Washington Re-Vote Rally January 11, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Monday it is launching an investigating of nearly five dozen ballots cast in the November 2004 Presidential election.... The FBI is helping in the investigation.

Well, Florida seems to be on the ball.

So what's with the State of Washington? Are the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI there completely corrupt? Or merely incompetent? Maybe the Democrats have some good dirt on the Bureau people and the U.S. Attorney's Office?

There must be SOME explanation for why they are all (apparently) sitting around playing with themselves while an election is stolen. Those illegal ballots for Gregoire undoubtedly also contained votes for President, so there shouldn't be any jurisdictional constraint.

Has Rossi ASKED for the U.S. Attorney's Office and the FBI to get involved? If not, why not?
And if so, what was the response?

and wouldn't be oh so sweet if Oregon,Washington,Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvainia, and Minnisota all ended up having been stolen and based on the fraud found by the courts we declared to have been Bush's and stocks the JOINT with some fresh fish evicerating the DNC for the next 50 years.

Fraud is NO reason to rescind a bogus victory by Democrats, is it?

I have mixed feelings about this. I mean, if you're dead and you still vote, it certainly demonstrates a certain degree of determination on your part

LOL...Maybe the new election oversight committee will pass a bill allowing citizens (from all countries) to bequeath their right to vote in WA to someone else, like, say, the union hall.

Yep. The GOP always says it but they never do anything about it

Does this mean that you're gonna take up the slack?

I don't live in Washington. But I am willing to do whatever I can. Whatever you have been doing, I will do the same.

The GOP should be screaming bloody murder....

Yes, they should. If our elected officials won't defend themselves, there isn't much we can do. I love the GOP but I get so tired of their passiveness. Its like Rush said. They were so used to being out of power and just getting along with the Rats and now they are in power and its like they don't know how to use it.

One of Rush's finer moments...all true! What is worse, if they get away with this they will do it in all 50 states. Liberals are liars and thieves!!!!

That is what I am afraid of. Our elected GOP officials had better start fighting back or the rats will get bolder and bolder until they begin to just ignore elections.
