Thank you for your erudite essay. Hope people of the left read it and finally have to agree that the Right Wing is not Fascist or Nazi in their thinking.

Good Post!!!

After reading the original article, I must say that when you are that far to the left, most of the world must look like right wing extremists. Folks who believe that GWB is a right wing fundamentalist, have no clue as to religiosity or politics in the real world.

Soon to come: "Well there has never been a pure socialist state" argument and apology.

Correct on facsism, socialism, communism. But consider that Adam Smith advocated Capitalism in the Wealth of Nations before those words and concepts existed. So what was the opposite of Capitalism?

Adam Smith called it Mercantilism, which could also be called compassionate fascism.

Currently in the GOP there is a struggle between Capitalism and Mercantilism. Capitalists tend to be supply siders for low taxes and low spending. Mercantilists tend to be for Government helping business.
Thus Bush imposed steel tarriffs to help the steel mills and just sent the factories that use steel overseas rather than enticing them to buy American steel.
Thus there is an omnibus pork bill. A bailout of mis-managed airlines. An SBA. Tax loopholes to subsidize ADM and make The Andreas family the welfare queens of Illinois.

I'm not trolling, don't worry. Perhaps I should have pointed that out in the comment box.
Oh, okay, never mind. Sorry we asked.

Let us hope that at least the wiser homeschooled children of our Nation are taught this history. They, in particular, will need it.

Thank you for the post.

I see that a link has appeared in the article header. Could the nature of that link be the reason you omitted it?

The Fascist Epithet - This philosophical counterpoint to socialism in which people were permitted to retain property and personal wealth while the state regulated how private property and wealth would be used to achieve the common good was given a name by Benito Mussolini when he founded the Fascist Party in Italy. He promised to give the Italians the same things that Roosevelt promised to give Americans. Mussolini called the political process for doing that Fascism.

In like manner, Adolf Hitler promised the Germans equality and prosperity through regulation and control of private wealth and industry. Hitler called his movement National Socialism (which was shortened to the acronym Nazi) because he was promising the same utopian benefits as the socialists promised, but without the pain of the immediate confiscation of all property and wealth. Like the democratic progessives, the fascist tyrants argued that the fascist way to prosperity and equality was the only hope for defeating the Communists.

Fascism was and is a political philosophy in which a strong central government permits, but regulates and taxes, private wealth and property in order to achieve the utopian socialist ideal.

Because fascist controls of business and private property can never produce the promised result of equality, freedom, and economic prosperity any more than socialist promises can, fascist politicians must always be looking for someone to blame for their failures while continuing to promise even greater future economic and social miracles. Both socialists and fascists must demonize those who object to the state taking over control of their property, businesses, and lives in order to justify the violence that the political leaders will inflict on them. Fascism and socialism grow only in the soil of envy and hate.

But this isn’t fascism - and progressives who claim that it is are disorienting and disarming those who want to build a movement against it.

Now if you can just get these leftist cheese eaters to stop trying to conceal their true identity by using fraudulent labels of their ideology.

Progressive = Communist

They don't fool anyone here.

Koreans emphasize defense
"Two delegations of U.S. lawmakers, including Tom Lantos, have been visiting the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Lantos, a right-wing Democrat from California, co-sponsored a bill passed by Congress last year that imposes new sanctions on the DPRK (North Korea).

For years the U.S. capitalist establishment, which decimated Korea in a terrible war in the 1950s and has kept over 30,000 troops in the southern half of that divided country ever since, has tried to force the leaders in the north to give up their socialist system. Imperialist strategists thought it would be easy once the Soviet Union collapsed. Indeed, that and a series of natural disasters, plus the death of Korea's legendary liberation leader, Kim Il Sung, created a period of severe hardship for the DPRK in the 1990s."
Snip

What's your neutral opinion of this ever so neutral editorial from Worker's World?
They seem to love the NKorean form of government..How dare they whine about fascism in the US..HYPOCRITES..They excuse socialist/communist tyranny ,oppression, lack of human rights.
As long as it's socialists, communists oppressing..it's just dandy with"progressives"...Jail all dissidents, slit the throats of those who don't follow the leader.Confiscate their property..It's fine if you are "progressive"(socialist, communist, now Islamofascists get a pass)
Suicide bombers and terrorists are merely killing their"oppressors" Israelis or Americans..oops if they kill Iraqis or murder"collaborators...Cop killers are merely killing their oppressors..
Everything is excused by the "progressives" as long as it's against the US.

The hypocrisy of it is that we have a bunch of Marxists calling someone a Fascist.

While I disagree with much of this article, the author is correct in saying that regardless of what you call it, even from the most negative point of view, there's no fascism here.
