Senator Hiliary Clinton - FYI
Clinton Files ^ | January 14, 2005 | Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton

January 14, 2005

Mr. Tom Corey President Vietnam Veterans of America Suite 400 8605 Cameron Street Silver Spring, Maryland 20910

Dear Mr. Corey:

Today, I joined thirty-two of my Senate colleagues in calling on the Administration to ask for full funding for the veterans' health care system when it presents its Fiscal Year 2006 budget request to Congress in the coming weeks.

America's veterans have served our nation and the cause of freedom proudly and bravely. We owe it to them to make sure they have access to the health care and support they need and deserve.

Throughout my time in the Senate, I have worked hard to protect the interests of New York veterans -- to provide full funding for veterans' health care, to make mandatory the funding of VA health care, and to keep New York VA hospitals open.

[Please see the attached letter sent to President Bush]

January 14, 2005

Dear Mr. President:

We are writing to urge you to give appropriate attention and priority to the needs of our nation's veterans in the Fiscal Year 2006 budget proposal you will soon be submitting to Congress.

The ongoing conflicts abroad necessitate that our country maintain well-trained, healthy, and disciplined armed forces. However, we should be mindful at all times that we must remain committed to the care of these men and women upon their return and separation from military service. Fulfillment of this obligation requires constant vigilance on the part of Congress as well as the Executive Branch.

As in years past, we plan to move forward in a bipartisan manner to provide adequate funding for the VA health care system. Merely covering payroll increases for VA health care personnel and medical inflation is not sufficient. Last year, Congress added $1.2 billion in funding for VA medical care to the Omnibus Appropriations Bill for 2005. With tens of thousands of servicemembers deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of whom will return home this year, each of us has a responsibility to ensure that the VA health care system receives full appropriated funding -- without reliance on increasing out-of-pocket fees to veterans.

It is imperative that VA is able to provide high-quality primary and specialty care in a timely manner, in addition to long-term and mental health care for those who require it. It is already apparent that both of these services will continue to be in high demand and we cannot ignore them as we shape the future of VA health care. We all have an obligation to the men and women who serve our nation to ensure that VA gets the funding it so desperately needs to meet these goals.

We sincerely hope that your budget will be a clear message to the heroes of our conflicts - past and present - that their sacrifices are not forgotten. Your support will go a long way in keeping the promises we have made to our nation's veterans.

********************** Please check my website at http://clinton.senate.gov for updates on this and other veterans issues I am working on.

Sincerely yours, Hillary Rodham Clinton

Is this a conservative move? Or is there another motive?

"Is this a conservative move?"

Are you kidding? This woman will do anything to get elected in 2008. A committed conservative? Her only commitment is to herself.

She will be running to our right on military funding, veteran's issues, border security, immigration, and national sovereignty unless we nominate a real conservative. She's been making a very concerted effort in the local NY media to portray herself as a defender of veterans against a Pentagon elite that is "out of touch."

And we ignore this woman at our own peril. I will say it again. Unless we get our act together, and nominate a REAL conservative that will defend our borders and properly fund our military, we are going to be crying our eyes out in 2008 as we watch her inauguration.

What is this about?

She is trying to triangulate, like "her husband", per Dick Morris. In other words, she is lying. She wants people to think she cares about the military and that she is more conservative than she really is. Don't fall for it! She is a NUTTY FAR LEFT LIBERAL wanting to run for President!

I'm here!

How do we get an election that is not fixed?

I'm waiting

::tick, tick, tick, tick::

Do you realize how many elections have been fixed over the years?

Do a search here at FR alone.

Ok, go to google than.

NJ and NY have been tampered. Remmeber the MIL ballots that were thrown out?

I'm not attacking you. I'm at your side.

Give a word on what to do. I"m there.

"She is trying to triangulate, like "her husband", per Dick Morris."

Agreed, in a sense. But triangulating is picking a middle position (between the GOP and Congressional liberals.)

Unfortunately, she's setting herself up to run to the right of our party leadership on many issues. Her recent musings on immigration place her somewhere to the left of Tom Tancredo and the right of George Bush. Likewise, from what I've read, I'm not sure it's going to be too hard to get to the right of our party leadership on military and veteran's funding.

Our party is practically handing these issues to her, and she's moving in like the brazen opportunist that she is.

"Do you realize how many elections have been fixed over the years?"

There is a lot of election fraud. Look at Washington state.

But the first step is to make sure that you get the most votes. Then worry about counting them.

I'm afraid Hillary may get more votes than our candidate (just as her hubby beat George H Bush after he raised taxes and slashed the military), even before the benefit of election fraud. And, you are right. The Democratic vote counters in Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago will pad her margin.

Note: NYC (where the votes are) is a strong union town. And unions hate illegal immigration and have lotsa bucks...

My first thought was that she wants to run for President.

Next thought, what was the amount that the President asked for? More or less? than ms hilary voted for.

I trust nothing that this person does.

As a service connected disabled and retired Vet, I wonder what made her suddenly take an interest in the military?
