BOSTON -- U.S. Sen. John Kerry has begun circulating an e-mail letter calling for Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to be replaced, and includes a link to an online petition asking President Bush to remove him.
ADVERTISEMENT Kerry, who recently returned from a Middle East trip that included a visit to Iraq, wrote in the letter "please join me in my call for President Bush to fire Donald Rumsfeld."
"He's the man responsible for the well-being of our troops. He's neglected his duty. He's made excuses. It's time for him to go," Kerry wrote.
The letter, which was paid for by Friends of John Kerry, linked to the petition posted on Kerry's campaign Web site. Kerry, a Democrat, lost to Bush in November's presidential election.
The letter chastised President Bush for recent comments about Iraq, and said that "If you care about restoring our credibility around the world and our credibility with our troops on the ground in Iraq, you've got to start by removing Donald Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense."
It was not immediately how many people, if any, had signed the petition on Tuesday night. A call to a campaign spokesman for Kerry was not immediately returned.

I don't think John Kerry has any right on discussing who is better at caring for our troops.
The more he does this, the more people see him as a sore loser. Just like that guy, errr... what's his name... Al something...
He obviously hasn't been talking to many troops over there. I have heard the only danger the troops have is from insurgents, not our own Defense Secretary.
"My name is John Kerry and, damn it, I am relevant!"
CAPITOL HILL Senator John Kerry says he still doesn't know if he'll vote to confirm Secretary of State designate Condoleezza Rice.
During her confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill today, Kerry told her that her approval by the Senate was almost certain -- but that his own vote is "yet to be determined."
Kerry cited concerns over the administration's Iraq policies.
He says his reservations are "not personal in any way whatsoever, but they do go to the story and trail of the last four years."
At one point, Kerry challenged Rice's claim that the right number of troops were in Iraq. And he also criticized the administration's post-war strategy.
Rice responded that there are some "big tactical challenges" ahead -- and that the U-S policy on Iraq "was always going to have ups and downs

Man. This guy just never sees a bowl of Wheaties without wanting to p*ss in it, does he?
I'd sign a petition to recall Kerry.
Doofus! Call in the Swifites!!
John Kerry may be more like Al Gore in defeat, than we can possibly imagine.
This is absolutely hilarious! I hope nobody tells Querry that Secretary Rumsfeld (that dear and lovely man) was NOT elected and CANNOT be recalled.
I do believe he serves at the pleasure of the President, who, to my knowledge, does not consult Querry.
Grapes are sour in the Kerry vinyard...
APf
And I'd sign the petition right below your name.
It is time, no it is past time to recall this traitor.
He's beyond tiresome. Get the hook!
that POS has the gall to ask for anyone to be 'fired'---the "swiftboat vets" did a great job putting him in his real place as traitor to his fellow servicemen 30 plus years ago---if the country had any guts he would be kicked out of the Senate and ridden out of town on a rail-
I think that Bush's best move is to listen to Kerry...then do pretty much the opposite. Kerry definitely doesn't have Bush's best interests in mind.
whatta disgusting twit!
