I thought it interesting that that clip of the swimmer was from September 2003, six months after the war. Yet he was agreeing with W, sort of. It seemed odd. I wonder what the context was.
I agree. Filly, what you said reminds me of the the story of the dumpy looking guy wearing filthy overalls whe walks into the Cadillac dealer. Stop me if you've heard this.
My point is we've all heard it. Sometimes the smelly guy with crap on his sandals is God. But Bush critics see what they want to see and that, by its nature, has no depth.
I am so upset that I only saw about the last 30 seconds of this, does anyone know if and when it will be shown again?
Goose bumps again when I saw the response of the troops when he walked in that Thanksgiving visit to Iraq!

Well, I know this doesn't count for much, but history has always been my great passion, and I have resolved to pen a biography of W as my summum opus. I figure I'll tackle it many decades hence, in my sunset years...so look for it in 2050 or so!
But the man God has chosen to lead us during dangerous days.
It was good to be reminded of what he's brought us through. His strength. His honor. His compassion.

The people of Texas, like me, have seen it a lot longer--although my first rememberence of Bush was as Texas Rangers owner. I live in the city they play in and used to see him in his box at the stadium. He was always talking to the fans and interacting with the players and families.
Then when he was Governor, he was the first one to admit that the schools were failing our children and made rules regarding no pass/no play, and also exit testing in order to graduate. Boy, the kids didn't like it, but the parents loved him for it.
What a wonderful show. The most meaningful part was the description of the events of 9/11, and the final clarity on why the President acted as he did. When you think about it, with Pentagon under attack, they had every reason to believe that Washington was a very dangerous place.
Some random thoughts, mostly trivial.
1. Andy Card has a great New England accent, I don't know why his accent sounds so attractive to me when Teddy K sounds like a slopbucket with marbles in it.
2. Brit Hume wears suspenders. And he's not as tall as I would have thought.
3. Dick Cheney is a sexy, sexy man. And contrary to popular belief, his eyes didn't look blue, they looked brown. Did I mention I think he's sexy?
4. Why in the world would Dick Cheney listen to Don Imus while he's shaving, of all people?
5. Jim Angle seems like such a nice person.
6. The footage of the President coming from behind the curtain to greet the troops on Thanksgiving was priceless. I guess because it aired mostly on Thanksgiving, I had never seen it before.
7. The story about him and Condoleeza Rice going out to a Suburban in Crawford with ball caps pulled over their eyes was just priceless.
8. The President really, really dislikes and distrusts the media, even more than I realized. Not that he doesn't have more than ample reason. He as much as admitted that he just has to control his feelings now because he's President.
If anyone wants a laugh..Ron Reagan is hosting the dog show on Animal Planet..hehehe

My sentiments exactly, wished it wouldn't end. Good thing it's supposed to run again at midnite, time for me to get the ol' vcr warmed up.

I think that day in the rubble was when critics were forcibly silenced. The rest of the country accepted his victory was close..but genuine. 9-11 shut them up. Probably helped drive them mad, keeping that bile (mostly) in check even for short term.
I knew G.W. was going to be the candidate when he became Governor of Texas. Something special about him his father and no other candidate proposed seemed to have. After eight years of Clinton there was no doubt in my mind I'd never support Al Gore. G.W. was a man of character, that I knew. A Man of Faith.
Funny thing about all this talk of Values. IMO, 2000 truly defined the power of values as an issue. While it was a dominant concern in 2004, the WOT was the key issue this election. 2000 was a backlash against Clinton's character (or lack thereof).
