Early in December, with a photographer and his assistant, I drove from Nebraska, near the geographical center of the United States, to the heart of Texas -- more than 700 miles, through empty spaces and sprawling cities and all or part of four states. We headed pretty much due south, no dodging or weaving. And never did we pass within 100 miles of a county that voted for Democrat John F. Kerry in the recent election.We were voyaging on the Red Sea....

I searched on "red" and "sea"...didn't get a hit on either one.

The danger of arsenic in ground water is not a matter of opinion. Whether it is true or not does not depend on where people live, or how they voted. An honest reporter would not have used the dismissive "was greeted as simple common sense." Instead, an honest reporter would have said, the experience here showed that the decision of the Clinton Administration was both wrong and costly.
I continue to spit on the Washington Post for its bias.

I give him a pat on the back for trying to figure out Red America.
But at the end of the story one thing missing from his analysis is the recognition of the total absurdity and falsehoods the Democrats try to put forth.
We all rememeber Algore and his nonsense. Kerry flip-flopping. Those in the Democratic party have no credibility.
I believe THAT is what drives many of us to vote Red.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Tim Blair's response. He pretty much tore the WaPo article to confetti.
The comments from the others were pretty sharp, too. How does that work? Can anybody write comments on a blog like Blair's?
But I knew that if we set off and kept going, we'd meet up eventually with Blue America. In a tangible sense, even after this bitter election, something connected this land to that one, something more durable than fear and loathing, though it was beyond my view. An industry has been set up to convince us otherwise, but I'm here to tell you that a person can get from there to here, and here to there. Maybe next time, the Democrats might give it a try.
In that light, I looked again, and the world seemed to float off in every direction toward new beginnings and fresh possibilities.
"...new beginnings and fresh possibilities." He's talking here like a scout for the Rats.
Most blogs allow you to comment. Sometimes the comments are more informative than the original post. (That was particulary the case in the CBS documents scandal...many document experts would weigh in on various blog websites.)

THAT and lying cheating bubba getting it on with monica in the Oval Office. I voted for Clinton twice, which is why I'll never vote for another Dem and why I'm here to stay.
If I remember correctly, the arsenic issue was one of the things Clinton deliberately contrived as he was leaving office to create a political problem for Bush. If the old standard was unsafe, why had Clinton waited 7 years and 51 weeks to do anything about it? The new standard wouldn't take effect for a while anyway, and I think most places in the country were already below the new level. What it did was give the Democrats a club to hit Bush with which had nothing to do with real safety issues.
