A day in the life of President Bush (photos) 1/15/05

President and Mrs. Bush did not make any public appearances today as the prepare for this week's 2nd Inaugural. The President proclaimed Sunday as National Sanctity of Human Life Day and Religious Freedom Day.

Today's Presidential Radio Address dealt with the issue of Social Security. For those interseted in reading the entire transcript (it's not long), click here: whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2005/01/20050115.html

QUOTE OF THE DAY: When President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act in 1935, the average life expectancy was about 60 years, which meant that most Americans would not live to become eligible for benefits, then set at age 65.

Today, most Americans enjoy longer lives and longer retirements. And that presents a looming challenge. Because Social Security was created as a pay-as-you-go system, current retirees are supported by the taxes paid by current workers. Unfortunately, the ratio of workers to retirees is falling steadily. In the 1950s, there were about 16 workers paying in for each person drawing out. Today, it's about three workers for every beneficiary. And by the time today's workers in their mid 20s begin to retire, there will be just over two.

I've already uploaded it to my website.

And pinging the kitties to it on the other thread,
I'm sure some of them will also.

Muchas Gracias!

You can thank all those mothers who decided to murder their unborn babies because it cramped their lifestyle too much, and the lawmakers and activist judges who made the murder of live, unborn babies "legal" in the United States. They killed their babies, and now they have no one to support their retirement. This is called poetic justice. Let them work until they croak!!!

This is exactly what I was yelling (I live alone) as I read an op-ed piece on Social Security the other day. NO mention of abortion as having killed off generations of Americans as the reason why:

a) Colleges/Universities have been scrambling for applicants, as the population dropped drastically when the generation that should have started being born in 1974 didn't show up for College.

b) There are only 3-4 workers for every one retiree instead of the aforementioned 16.

The millions of babies flushed down the drain is never mentioned when the "PRO-choice" talks about the "problem" of Social Security. No one wants to see the elephant sitting in the middle of the room.

The REASON for the decline is never, ever mentioned and it makes me NUTS.

Thank you for you saying it right out loud. There are so many people who "wonder" at the reason for the fewer numbers of people supporting Social Security and never figure it out on their own, and then there are the Commentary and Op-Ed writers who are never going to mention it, for fear of bringing up one of those 3rd-rail topics.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just saw it in U.S. News:
First lady Laura Bush 's new Oscar de la Renta suit and coat won't be the only fashion statement made by the first family on Inauguration Day. The president's new jet-black limo, the Cadillac DTS, will also make its debut. The car is expected to take the family from the Capitol down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House parade reviewing stand. It sports a first-ever foldaway desk and little spotlights to illuminate the front fender flags at night.

I had never equated millions of killed babies with the lower number of people to support Social Security. The evil of abortion has had soooo many horrible affects on our society . . .

Don't forget VCR alert--"George W. Bush Behind the Headlines" with Brit Hume, on FOX, at 8 PM CENTRAL TIME this evening.

Just saw a little clip of what Carl Cameron said . . . he traveled iwth the Pres. during his first campaign, when he was Fov. of Texas. Carl was the one (or one of the ones) who broke the story about the DWI just before the Pres. election. He did an interview with the Pres. just a few days after that story broke, and the Pres. treated him well (as always) saying something to him like, "Good story . . . it's OK.

Teamwork sure does help and works for me.

There have been a number of pics I've made where several
Freepers provided input on the concept, captions, etc.

FR truly is the "Best site on the 'Net", alright! :^D
