KOFI CLINTON (clinton-Secretary-General of the U.N.?)

CAN you picture Bill Clinton as Kofi Annan's replacement as Secretary-General of the U.N.? Insiders say the former president agreed to partner up with his predecessor, No. 41, George H.W. Bush, in the tsunami relief effort partly for the international awareness to position him for the U.N. job. Clinton, who has been relatively low-profile since leaving the White House, is said to be ready for a new challenge now that he's finished with his autobiography. Assuming that Clinton's popularity in Africa and Europe would win the approval of the Security Council, the only fly in the ointment is the complications for wife Hillary's presidential hopes in 2008. "No one in the U.N. would want the President of the United States to be married to the head of the U.N., and therefore in control of Security Council votes," said one observer. Conversely, Americans wouldn't like the idea that the U.N. would be calling the shots in the Oval Office.

THE DARK SIDE OF THE GLOBES

EVER since 1982 — when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave Pia Zadora the Golden Globe for "New Star of the Year in a Motion Picture" — the nebulous group of supposed scribes has been accused of graft and amateurism. The award, it was widely assumed, had been "bought" for Zadora by her former megamillionaire husband, Meshulam Riklis.

I don't believe in this theory. Bush is in office for 4 more years. I don't think he wants a double monarchy. Him vying with bill over supremacy? Bill taking UN business directly to the American people. The left supporting him in this. No. That's what they call a threat to national security.

BJ will forever skate on a certain immunity, as ex-President, from the harshest criticism. But surely we may safely disqualify him from taking on any new posts of actual responsibility?? After he sold Presidential pardons? The man is a lawyer who is dishonored in that profession, banned from ever arguing before the Supreme Court.

Oh, I forgot we now live in Bizarro World.

The House of Bush vs. the House of Stain. Almost sounds like the making of a "Dune" kind of rivalry.

Is this the same group who awards the Oscars?

Gosh, I'm tired of reading this; how many ways can you say "It's not going to happen."

Bill Jeff Bentpecker is about the only guy who could out-crook Kofi.

And everything they do is for their own benefit, first and foremost.

After he sold Presidential pardons?

Why does everyone always bring this up? Research some of Bush 41's pardons (including a large-scale drug dealer and a killer terrorist) first. Questionable pardons appear to be common practice.

Anyway, however much I dislike Clinton, can he be any worse than Kofi? At least the SG would be American, but that's probably why it wouldn't fly.

I like the UN being in the USA as long as it exists. Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies even closer. Their NY location makes it easy for the NSA to eavesdrop on their communications.

Thank You.

There will never be an American Secretary General of the UN. Most of the educated elites of the third world thinks the UN is already a mouthpiece for the US anyway. Yes, really.

People who write this stuff in the gossip columns (?!?) have probably never read the UN Charter and don't know a thing about the procedures and customs of selecting the S-G.

Exactly. The Sec-Gen rotates even by region; it's just not our turn anytime soon.

And even if it were, it would be a cold day in hell before George W. Bush agreed to let Bill Clinton take the job.

His mama will bust his butt.

How about keeping Hillary out of jail? That should be more than enough of a challenge.

The egregious scandalous pardons at the end of Clinton's second term were unethical, terrible, rotten!! That is not common practice!

Sorry, I must say that was a bad post, antiRepublicrat.
