Four killed in militancy-related incidents in J&K (India)

[India News]: Srinagar, Jan 12 : Two militants and a counter-insurgent associate with Ikhwan were among four persons killed and a policeman injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where a hardcore Hizbul Mujahideen militant was arrested, official sources said today.

The two ultras affiliated with Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Toiba outfit and a 55-year-old woman were killed in a gunbattle between militants and security forces at Partapora village of Shopian in Pulwama district of South Kashmir last night, the sources said.

The encounter was triggered by militants who opened fire on a search party in the village, they said adding the woman, Ateeqa was caught in the crossfire and was killed.

Two ak assault rifles and some ammunition and grenades were recovered from the slain militants, one of whom was suspected to be a Pakistani national, the sources said and identified the local militant as Imran of village Handew-Zainapora.

A group of militants intruded into the house of Ikhwan activist Ali Mohammad at village Goolgahan in Baramulla district late last night and shot him dead, the sources said.

They also shot at and seriously injured a Special Operations Group policeman Qaiser Ahmad Bhat outside a hospital in Pulwama town this afternoon, the sources said. PTI
