Motorists in eastern Missouri may soon see Ku Klux Klansmen picking up trash on a highway. The state had banned the Klan from its highway litter cleanup program. But an appeals court rejected that ban, and now the Supreme Court has set aside the state's appeal.
Missouri had denied a Klan chapter permission to join the program, in which volunteers pick up trash and are thanked publicly with signs acknowledging their help. The Klan sued, saying it had a constitutional right to participate.
The state said in its appeal that it didn't want motorists thinking the state had anything good to say about a "horrific, racist group." Some states backed the appeal, saying those that didn't want to partner with the Klan might have to end up abandoning their own cleanup programs.
Good. The more of 'em out by the side of the road in daylight, the easier the targets.

Sheesh. I feel bad for Missouri. Do you know how much trash people are going to chuck along this stretch of road now?
Years ago, the Klan announced an organizational meeting would be held at a city park shelter in Unionville, MO and three guys showed up. Two were from the FBI and one was an off duty sheriff's deputy.
Hmmm...I recommend that people litter that section of highway with old sheets...the more stained the better.

I've never liked these "adopt a highway" programs, because they indicated to me that the states where spending so much money paying welfare mothers to have more babies that they couldn't afford highway cleanup any more, and they had to bribe people to do it with free publicity.
They should have the Klan do dusting in public buildings. The state will provide the Pledge or Endust and they have th sheets already.

Good one! On well, it'a free country. People have rights, including the right to be fools.
Maybe it is about time our Constitution is used for someone other than communists, homosexuals, islamic jihadist, etc.
No, I am not a kkk member nor sympathizer other than it IS their right under the First Amendment to express their views publicly and openly - just as it is for you liberals to burn the flag or pollute the streets with your diseased bodily wastes.
I sure Missouri could have declined based on the fact the KKK can't be a legit 504- do you think they have filed tax returns?
