That's pretty much what happened. I don't remember who it was, but one of the safeties came by and took him out. All I remember is the play by play guy saying, as the safety was crossing the 40 yard line, "there's a fifteen yard penalty coming..."
Modern society? Ah, the good ol' days when Ty Cobb went into the stands to beat up a cripple, and Ted Williams flipped off the fans at Fenway (three times to cover everyone.)
Nahhh. The Dallas player just bumped him (kind of a psuedo-tackle). He knew that if he ran up and cold-cocked T.O., then he would get a larger fine and longer suspension than T.O. would. And that's the problem. If the League won't police them, then the players have too. That's the price of the NFL's cowardice...
No kidding. Grown men having fun playing a kid's game. People need some perspective.

...We have seen endless moves from Moss in his seven years with the Vikings, and by all accounts this was the first time he has broken out the post-TD fake moon.
"I didn't see it," said Tice, when asked about Moss' second TD celebration.
"I didn't see it," said Culpepper, after his four-touchdown performance. "Maybe y'all didn't see it. We definitely didn't practice that."
Moss cut an even more outrageous figure in the locker room than he did wiggling his backside against a goal post. He had that Afro flapping, and he was wearing a ripped, faded Superman T-shirt over his regular sweats, and he was limping along with his skinny legs showing from the knees down.
He shooed off an early horde of postgame media, then later showed a rare tolerance for a group made up mostly of the lowest of the low: print reporters.
Asked about his second TD celebration, Moss said: "It was more of a fun thing. I was trying to enjoy myself. You saw my teammates, banging me on the helmet, having fun. This was a big day for us. We were having fun."
Moss said something about putting to rest last week's controversy, to which a reporter replied: "Don't you think people are now going to be talking about the end zone celebration?"
Moss' response was, "They can talk [as] opposing the celebration, I don't give a darn, but they better talk about this 'W' we put up on this field at Lambeau. ... The only thing I care about is L's and W's."
In Moss' way of thinking, which can be as elusive when expressed as he is as a receiver, the walkoff in Washington took the pressure off his team in preparation for this playoff game.
"You didn't hear much about the game this week," he said. "It was Moss this, Moss that. I'm glad all the pressure was about me. I can take criticism.
"You didn't hear about the Washington loss. All you heard was about Moss walking off the field. I'm comfortable with that -- I can take the beating.
"I won't say it didn't hurt. That wasn't my plan, but the way it unfolded, like I said --Moss walking off the field, talking about Moss -- there wasn't a lot about the game."
Moss was asked if he considered making an early exit Sunday at Lambeau, to poke some fun at the entire episode.
"My ankle was hurting so bad ... I don't think so," he said.
"I'm just excited to get on the plane home and sit down."
Sort of interesting comparing this to the thread about Plummer flipping off the fans.
I wish we still lived in the day when you could challenge someone to a duel.
This wasn't a player with a sharpie or cell phone... it was really tasteless.
More along the lines of a defensman hitting Gretzky high, then having to look over his shoulder for the rest of the night, knowing that some big Edmonton goon was looking for him. Funny, but players kept their sticks down and played a little more carefully in those days...
Oh, I laughed alright--for two reasons: #1 I am not a Cowboy fan, used to be but not anymore.
#2. We laughed when he DID get knocked off the star!!!
You don't honestly think Terrell Owens is a class act do you? I really thought your post was supposed to be facetious!!!
I've never seen a gorilla with long hair. Maybe you should knock off the drink before noon.
That was Joe Buck. San Francisco-loving' Michaels probably would've praised it.
I agree with you that Moss acted like a 5-year-old by doing his "fake mooning" stunt.
I don't know, it didn't bother me. It's entertainment. I thought it was funny. I guess I just don't get the "intellectual" side of football. It's a game where grown men beat each other up and knock each other out. So, this is offensive? Don't get me wrong, I like Football, I just think this is an overreaction.
Hush now, don't shatter grandpa's memories of Neverwuz...
Thank you for a little common sense. And you're right about Ted Williams. The man, during his prime, was a mean, nasty guy. He lightened up over the years, but he was a prick.
As the Vikes were playing the Packers, mayhaps ole' Moss was showing the type of "Packers" for which he personally has a preference.
>>I think it was Al Michaels who said something to the effect of that being a classless act, and lamenting the fact that they'd showed it on TV.
Joe Buck, maybe? Game was on Fox, not ABC. I saw the act and heard that comment, too.
