Police Foil Terrorist Plot on Manila Church Festival

Manila, Jan. 07 (CWNews.com) - Police in the Philippines say that they have foiled plans by terrorists to bomb a Catholic festival in Manila, the Reuters news service reports.

Police arrested 16 Islamic militants and seized homemade bombs that they were allegedly planning to use in a suicide attack on an annual street festival that draws thousands of believers on the feast of the "Black Nazarene," when pious Catholics to an ancient image of Jesus Christ that is reputed to have miraculous powers.

The Muslims arrested by police denied planning a terrorist attack; they claimed that authorities had planted the bombs in their possession.

For some people, their first waking thought every morning is "whom can I kill today?"

"How was your day, dear"?

"OK. I wired up another 16 bombs".

Murder and mayhem is a way of life for these people.

I was watching the movie "MacArthur" last night on TV, why and how did we as a nation cede our bases and strategic position in the Phillipines? The people I have met in the US love us, they are very good and civilized as a people. We allowed those that hate America to push us out, when I always believed that the vast majority of Filipinos benefited by our presence and wanted us there.

I guess what I am asking is since they loved us, unlike European ingrates, what happened?
