I'm still amazed that the Bush-in-flight-suit photos caused such a flap. First of all, Bush had actually flown jets in the National Guard, so he wasn't just some Walter Mitty getting dressed up; secondly, the suits are probably mandatory for anyone flying in one of those planes. It's not showing-off, it's just SOP. Hence I'm not put-off by Rather also wearing a flight suit.
Please don't hold your breath...blue is *not* your color - lol.

What really infuriated the Dems about Bush in the flight suit was that he looked like he belonged in it, it looked just right, unlike Dukakis in the tank and Kerry throwing a football.

Dubya in flight suit had women of all political persuasions swooning. Even the male talking heads looked a little warm.

President BUSH had the right to wear a flight suit, he was a military pilot, landing on a carrier, as Chief of the military.
Dan Rather is wearing it because even the passengers on a ferry ride (jet hop to carrier deck) are required to wear it.
Rather is not trying to pull anything (in this case), and it has none of the meaning that the wearing of it did for President Bush.
One must know what the crew and pilots on the LINCOLN went through, before they returned to port and were PRAISED by President BUSH, to understand the meaning of MISSION WELL ACCOMPLISHED (more like WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY), and why the President FLEW and LANDED on deck in a jet, when he could have comfortably ridden in a helicopter.
None of the MSM covered what happened with the LINCOLN during the freedom of Baghdad. (PBS had a special show on it, I must have been the only one watching it)
Can they use him in the man over board drills, except they throw him overboard, then no practice! OOOOPPPPPPSSSSSS We got aircraft to launch & recover, we'll get to it later!

Maybe Rather decided if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Except that Rather will never be anything but Dukakis in a tank compared to a real Commander In Chief flying in to address the troops.
