In this instance I'd say the comment was to let people know there's nothing unusual about this quake.

That may very well be the case, but the poster's comment didn't reflect that. They could have said "nothing new here".
I still stand by my one and only complaint against posters on this website. Let the mods be the judge of what should and should not be posted, and if you don't like the article, pass it on by.
