FR's own "little list"..name the MOST Obnoxious person of 2004..who "never will be missed.."
one man's opinion

Listening to the Mikado on New Year's Eve day can be dangerous. It's my favorite Gilbert & Sullivan piece, especially the brilliant, "I've got a Little List" ditty sung by the Lord High Executioner. As everyone in the media talks about the hi-lights, and low lifes, of 2004. So, who's the ONE person, or personality of 2004 you'd like to make dissappear, and why?

It's hard...it's such a target rich environment. Osama is an obvious choice, but then, which Clinton to choose? Scott Peterson has "disappeared" himself, deservedly so, as seems to have occured with both Ben Affleck and JLo, happily for us. Michael Jackson...next year perhaps? Jacques Chirac?..mais, certainment, d'accord!!..John Kerry is in the process of disappearing, as is Dan Rather; so they're probably NOT worth a vote. Same for Teresa Heinz Kerry. Al Gore has already vanished.
Some might vote for Howard Dean, but come on..we all really WANT him to stay and be the chair of the DNC..Kofi Annan can get some votes..Martha Stewart tried to "disappear" herself, but has failed. Shall we help her? Sick of Donald Trump? Can we "fire" him?
This number from the Mikado shows Sullivan's talent as a composers, but, IMHO, it really features Gilbert's at his satirical best, skewering, the "societal offenders who might well be underground, and who never will be missed."
NOTE:Possibly some kind soul can attach a midi to this thread, so you can hum along as you enter your choice..
"As some day it may happen that a victim must be found,
I'v got a little list--
I've got a little list
Of societal offenders who might well be underground
And who never would be missed
And who never would be missed!
CHORUS:
He's got 'em on the list--he's got em on the list;
And they'll none of them be missed--they'll none of 'em be missed! OK..here's YOUR chance...it's a tough job but somebody has to do it...Which personage of 2004 would best serve humanity by vanishing..PFFT!!.at the stroke of midnight tonight, and WHY?..and please defend your choice..

Don't have to wish...the festering little pile of dung is already gone - Yasser Arafat, the world's most celebrated and wealthy (ex)terrorist.
Rot in Hades, scum!

As you said Osama was the obvious. IMO Jaques Chirac going pfftt would have the next largest impact on the global scene. Kofi came to mind first, but he is already fading on his own.

I nominate the entire editorial board of the New York Times.
But if I have to choose just one, I guess it is "Pinch".

I realize it doesn't really qualify according to the criteria you set, but I'd very much like to nominate the entire insane murder cult of
ISLAM
to this wonderful list.
For reasons quite obvious to most...
