PENANG, Dec 28 (Bernama) -- Penang's water supply infrastructure, services and quality have not been affected by the tsunami triggered by the underwater earthquake near Sumatra, Indonesia, last Sunday.
Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP) general manager Datuk Liew Chook San said Tuesday the company's personnel were monitoring water supply 24 hours a day.
"We continue supplying water to Tanjung Bungah, Batu Ferringhi, Teluk Bahang, Balik Pulau and other areas with no compromises on quality and pressure," he said in a press statement here.
He said that since the dams and treatment plants are located safely enough inshore, there was no salt intrusion as well.
Liew said there is no structural damage found at the three largest dams -- the Mengkuang, Teluk Bahang and Air Itam dams -- after visual inspections were carried out last Sunday and Monday.

Finally some good news.
Ping
thats really good news
FYI
I didn't know incindiary was in Penang!
She picked what used to be the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. I guess it's changed a lot over the years, but you used to be able to lie on the beach and see maybe five people all day.
That was my favorite place in all of Asia when I lived in Singapore.
I'm glad it's evidently unharmed, and I'm glad incindiary is safe.
She likely wasn't on the beach when all this went down. But I don't know all the details as to what she's gone through.
I shouldn't go into detail as to why she's there, but it's for a good cause.
Take care, Cobby.
Thank heaven's for some good news! Lord knows there hasn't been much of that.
Excellent.

That's good news, thanks!
Thanks for info. I bet Cindy will be involved in the relief efforts.
Thank the Lord for mercies big and small...
Oh that's good news that Incindiary is ok. Penang is a beautiful spot. I was in Phuket and Phi Phi last month with my fiancee who works in Bangkok. Her company had their Christmas party at a resort in Penang. She sent me beautiful pictures of the beaches there.
Fortunately she left for Baguio City, Philippines on December 23rd from Penang. Her sister was working in Phuket but was spared. She had a guardian angel with her that day. I told her she saw more way more death and destruction than I ever did working on an Air Force base during Operation Desert Storm.
I'm still stunned at what happened over there and am so glad I took my vacation in Thailand over Thanksgiving instead of over Christmas.
I hope Incindiary did not lose her passport or any of her belongings. It will be chaotic enough leaving SE Asia without those additional headaches.
Hey Syncro it was good seeing you at the Michelle Malkin speech/protests. If I ever set up a blog site, I'll post those pictures of those rabid leftist protesters. I'm still bummed I didn't make it inside to hear Michelle speak
Good to see you there too!
How about the guy with the tiny "bush" logo on his shirt being attacked by the anarchists? Peaceful bunch...
I have lots of photos and small videos that I haven't had time to upload. I have several events I went to in the last 6 months or so that I will do articles and pictures on in February.
Thanks 3-C!
That's why God has her there;-)
