Boy's parents allege threats
WOODBRIDGE: A nun in her 70s was fired from her job as school disciplinarian and advanced placement math teacher at St. Cecilia's School in Iselin after she allegedly threatened an 11-year-old sixth-grade boy at the school.
Joanne Ward, spokeswoman for the Diocese of Metuchen, said a letter was sent to the boy's parents Tuesday telling them of the termination of Sister Catherine Iacouzze.
The parents of the boy filed a citizen's complaint against Iacouzze in Municipal Court alleging that she told the boy he would "have no teeth left in his mouth if he had an attitude with her again," according to the complaint.

A nun going to court! My children go to school under the same diocese. I'm familiar with this school. Conduct is a main factor in this school system. This is a child with a history of discipline issues. Why the heck didn't the school back the nun?

Ahhh, the gold old days :::sigh::: Back when children were expected to actually BEHAVE in school, mind & respect their elders and learn the 3 R's. I really miss those days and am seriously disappointed that this school felt the need to give into the pressure of lazy, weak, over-indulgent parents.
Proudly spanking my children when they deserve it (and reaping the rewards of compliments about my kids' stellar behavior from complete strangers everywhere we go!),

OMG - she's 70!!!
I've never heard of anything so cruel...she's probably said that a dozen times to kids, and the message has gotten accross. Now she gets fired? At 70!!!

My information is still '3rd person'; but when I was at my children's school this morning, moms and teachers that know her from church say Sister Catherine is wonderful.

This is what I don't understand. My children are in school under the same diocese. Bad conduct is not tolerated. This child is said to have a history of behavior problems.

OH MY GOD! CHARGING HER?! With what?!! Terroristic threats? Harassment? Attempted indecent assault?
I think she should have a statue erected in her honor as one of the last remaining adults with a friggin' BACKBONE!

I also back the nun. Let's see - she's 70, the school disciplinarian (Seen one of those in any public schools lately???) and the *advanced math teacher*. Seems to me the school is going to be the bigger loser here. Maybe the sister is willing to re-locate to a school that takes education and student order more seriously. She'd be welcome at ours.

Thanks.
"The diocese acted quickly," Ward said. "We have a very strict policy dealing with children."
No you don't. You have a very strict policy dealing with Nuns. You have a very liberal policy dealing with children.

I am going to forward this story to my daughter's school. Maybe they'll hire her. They are in the same Diocese, though, so they may not be able to.

Parents raising another parasitic societal thug. In a few years, they will be suing the police for arresting the miscreat after he knocks some other kid's teeth out.
Prayers for sister and kudos for her actions!

Math programs are the great weakness of the Catholic schools, at least around here. It is a shame they are losing and experienced teacher in this important subject.

NUN: The county took a tax assessment of this property last month. They want five thousand dollars.
ELWOOD: Doesn't the church have to pay that?
NUN: They would if they were interested in keeping the place, but they aren't. The Arch Bishop wants to sell this building outright to the board of Education.
ELWOOD: What's gonna happen to you?
NUN: I'll be sent to the missions.
JAKE: Forget it, five grand; no problem, we'll have it for you in the morning. Let's go Elwood.
NUN: NO NO! I will not take your filthy stolen money.
JAKE: Well then, I guess you're really up shit creek.
The nun hits Jake on the hand with a ruler.
NUN: I beg your pardon what did you say?
JAKE: I offered to help you. You refused to take our money, then I said "I guess you're really up shit creek"
She hit's him again.
ELWOOD: Christ Jake take it easy, man
NUN: Elwood!
She starts hitting them both as the language deteriorates.
ELWOOD: Ah you fat penguin!
The ruler breaks and the Nun reaches for a sword. Jake and Elwood go tumbling down the stairs.
NUN: You are such a disappointing pair. I prayed so hard for you. It saddens and hurts me that the two young men whom I raised to believe in the ten commandments have returned to me as two thieves, with filthy mouths and bad attitudes. Get out! And don't come back until you've redeemed yourselves.
CURTIS: Boys, you gotta learn not to talk to nuns that way

I have the radio on now, NJ 101.5. They are talking about this live. The poor Nun has a lawyer and is going to try to fight these charges. :(
Charges harassment and disorderly conduct. Municipal Court date is Dec. 28.

From Article:
Iacouzze is accused of harassment, a disorderly persons offense. She is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court on Dec. 28. Why don't they just haul her into court on Christmas!
If these parents don't want the nuns to speak harshly to their children, they should really consider the wonderful world of Public Education...

Makes me remember by teachers in elementary school. The difference is that when my parents found out that I'd been a smart aleck with a teacher then I was in WORSE trouble at HOME. They wouldn't have been going to the school to complain about the teacher being 'mean' to me.
