The United Church of Christ has filed petitions with the FCC challenging the licenses of a CBS- and an NBC-owned TV station in Miami after their parent companies rejected a church-produced commercial. In a statement, the UCC said that it had filed the challenge because "there is substantial and material question as to whether the stations' parent companies, Viacom, Inc., and the General Electric Company, have operated the stations in the public interest." UCC spokeswoman Gloria Tristani said that the two stations, WFOR and WTVJ, were chosen because their licenses come up for renewal first. Tristani is a former FCC commissioner. The ad in question shows a diverse group, black and white, gay and straight, being barred from a church. An announcer's voice then intones: "Jesus didn't turn people away. Why should we?" Another diverse group is then shown attending a UCC service as the announcer says, "No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you're welcome here." Although the networks have rejected the spot as too controversial, Ute Molitor, pastor of a UCC church in Boxborough, MA, told today's (Friday) Boston Herald: "There's a certain sense of pride that there's even a controversy. ... We are standing for something."
I do not know of a church that would prohibit such people. However, I know of plenty of churches that would say homosexuality is a sin as is all sex outside of marriage.
Churches in the Word are compelled to say all wrong behavior is sinful and then not accept the practice.
But it doesn't mean they don't love the people. They are merely holding such people accountable. As should the United Church of Christ (which I understand has no problem with practicing sinful sexuality).
They are going to milk this for all the publicity they can get. They never really wanted to run the ads - they wanted what they got: this stink they're raising.
And - last I knew, broadcasters are still free decide what ads they will run or not run.
These people aren't Christians. They're leftist bullies.
They need to be exposed as much as possible.
Just one more reason to never darken the door of a UCC "church." Now they're trying to suppress other's freedoms.
They are trying to utilize the first amendment to bash and demonize traditional Conservative Christians.
That said, I have a few questions I'd like to ask these so called [homosexual] Christians..
Your Christian claim appears to be little more than a pathetic attempt at an alibi. At one point along the way, much to do is made about the misuse of the Sodom accounts given in the book of Genesis, And some alleged "translational difficulties" regarding the teachings of the Apostle Paul. Newsflash, He describes the "ACT" not the "term" (Romans 1:26-27)
How much of the scriptures does one have to eschew to get the Bible to line up with your "sexual orentation"?
Additionally, how do you rationalize away the clear doctrinal teachings about the perversity of your way of life? How clear does the Bible need to be before you'll kneel before the Lord of heaven and earth and repent of this disgusting perversion?
I'm not the One before Whom you'll be accountable,...you're without hope in this world or the one to come, my friend. God is clear concerning your way of life,. ....He is AGAINST it!!! As long as you persist in this perversion, your heart is unrepentant and you remain in your sins. What could be plainer? Deny the clear biblical instruction about your perversions, and you're either a liar or a fool!!...probably both!!!....at the very least, you're unsaved.
Your understanding of the Word of God is chocked full of subjective human reasoning that allows for a rationalization for your perverted way of life. I regret to have to say that you're sorely deceived.
You're looking for the social acceptability that you don't rightfully deserve in our society. TRUE history reveals that this country was founded upon belief in the Word of God, faith in Christ, and personal freedom. You want a PERMISSIVE society,...not a free one. You're willing to upbraid any TRUE child of God who stands for an immutable, holy standard while you make excuses for your perverted way of life.
You are at enmity with God,....your way of life is openly hostile torwards God while you sail under the banner of peace, love and tolerance. Your religion, like other heretical, false religions, will lead you straight to eternal judgement. The sadness is that this is so needless. That means if you continue to live in sin you AREN'T a Christian,....!!!! Actually repent of your sins, and come to Jesus Christ, and you'll begin to discover what a true Christian really is!! Until you decide to accept Christ and become saved, you couldn't possibly know what a true Christian is!! You need to be clear on these points.
God DOES love you, but DOESN'T accept you according to your own concept of who He is, or your own concept about the Christian faith. The choice is yours,...repent of your sins, or bear the consequences for having rejected Christ, the truth of the Word, and His holy standards.

If the ads ran without controversy, they would have had to buy air time. By interjecting a charge of racism in the ads, they created controversy and guaranteed some in the media would give them free broadcast (as a news item) of their ad.
It worked for Mohammed and look at his billions of followers (through history on up to today).
I have seen the ads and was offended.
We were watching a show on Disney (wouldn't you know it) when my wife and I, with our children, saw the ads.
Luckily, our children didn't know what the ads were supposed to mean.
But why would Disney run a gay rights ad during children programming?
How do they identify which ones are homosexual? Are they wearing signs or holding hands or dressed in leather?

It really looks as though there's a split in the Homo Agenda leadership. Some want to go a little more slowly, since the plebes have obviously not drunk the Koolaid sufficiently. I mean, 11 states wherein the voters rejected "gay" marriage - even OREGON??? But other "gay" spokesholes want to push their Reich - I mean agenda - even faster, sooner.

I have a friend (a lot younger than me) who wanted to find out if there really were "subliminals" in Disney. She and a friend got a lot of Disney videos and went through them slowly, stopping here and there. They found a lot of stuff - smoke forming words like "sex" and "f***" and more.

Let's get to the truth of the situation. The liberal UCC has driven away millions of its members because they can't stand the watered down perverse doctrine the wolves in sheeps clothing have been trying to ram down their throats. Therefore, in order to keep their denomination alive they have to reach out to the gays. Fine, just tell the truth about it, and don't sound so self righteous.
Near the end of the commercial (which seems to be on the air every five seconds), a voice over says "wherever you are on the road of life" and cuts to a scene of two women cuddling/embracing.
IMHO, the issue of homosexuality should be the least worry of the United Church of Christ.
50% of the UCC members are atheists.
The other 50% are communists.
