The Arab world is all one big happy family again. OK, dysfunctional, but happy. No, well, unhappy and as twisted as usual. While visiting Kuwait today, Palestinian presidential front-runner, Mahmoud Abbas, apologized for his peoples support of Saddams invasion of the Gulf emirate in 1990. Isnt that special? (remember Dana Carvey as the Church Lady on SNL?).
This happened just after Kuwaits sultans (or whatever theyre called) forgave the Palestinian people for supporting Saddams invasion. Kuwaits leadership went so far as to say they didnt even expect a public apology for Palestinian support of the 1990 war. Now, isnt that special?
Of course, brushed under the carpet of the grand love fest was Kuwaits actions after the Gulf War. Could it beeeeeeeee Satan? According to that pillar of political correctness, the BBC,
After Saddam Hussein was driven out, the emirate expelled some 400,000 Palestinians, although a few thousand stayed or have since returned.
Mr Abbas said he would be asking the Kuwaiti leadership for financial backing on behalf of the PLO.
"Of course we will present our special needs in front of them [Kuwaitis] and leave it to their consideration," he said, quoted by Reuters.
Ahead of the visit, Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah had said: "We are not looking for apologies, this issue is over. On the contrary, we welcome the visit," he said.
Kuwait got invaded, and the people they gave refuge to, the Palestinians, supported the invasion. Kuwait then ethnically cleansed its soil of Palestinians, and now theyre back, cap in hand, begging from the ethnic cleansers. Everybodys happy now. Isnt that special?
Just where were all the human rights advocates, the international community, and the world press when Kuwait was engaged in real ethnic cleansing? Israel defends herself four of her sons were lost today in a terrorist atrocity and it is labeled as genocidal. U.N. delegates scream holocaust and pass resolution after resolution condemning Israeli atrocities.
What a world.
