Somebody sent me the link to the site..the intro starts out and when the words "when a country descended into madness...and the world closed its eyes" are on the screen, you see, very prominently, large UN trucks leaving..a couple of shots. You also see this man standing in front of a group of Christians/nuns.

This is the first I've seen of this movie...having known somebody who was in Rwanda when all of this started (he and his family were smuggled out of the country later on)..I'm looking forward to it.

I saw the trailer to this movie. From what I saw in that they were slapping the UN around.

I was mistaken, there was a short thread on this here last month - this thread. True story.

I heard this was an excellent movie, and will definitely impact those who see it.

Having just seen the trailer, I'm thinking it would be an appropriate movie to see around Christmas.

I'm trying to bump all the articles about Rwanda up to the top. I'm still in shock after seeing this movie. Even 10 years later, it's like it never happened as far as the world is concerned. Still thinking the UN is nothing but a corrupt body that doesn't give a damn about the people of the world.

nick nolte played his part extremely well... you could tell he wanted to help, but...

the scene where the newsman had the tape showing people being hacked to death was copied from actual footage shown on Frontline . that's a show worth watching... it really indicts xxxlinton and his fellow crummybuttons

We watched the move Hotel Rwanda last week and were stunned.

The next time anyone I meet tells me they support the UN, I'm going to tell them to watch that movie and get back to me.

Great movie. I put it with "The Killing Fields" and "Schindler's List".

There was also a scene where they're listening to the radio and it's clearly Dee Dee Meyers voice trying to get away from the word "genocide." It was disgusting. You have to remember that this happened in the age of the internet. It's astounding when you think of it that way. That it happened 10 years ago.

It was incredible. And more incredible that you and I, who follow the news, still didn't understand the extent of it. Shameful, shameful period in world history. I mean, they were armed with MACHETES!!! How difficult would it have been to just have made a stand.

And Clinton's State Department, when asked about ethnic genocide, responded that they have formulas! One need to only look at the film footage to realize that ethnic cleansing was going on.

I kept saying to my husband during the movie that I thought after the Holocaust everyone promised that this type thing would never be permitted to happen again.

And it's STILL happening, in the Sudan.

I bought this movie. It is a good movie, IMO. The UN, IMO, was shown for the cowards they are.

Yeah. I was thinking that as I posted to you. It's a disgrace and I'm ashamed that more has not been made of it in this country and in the UN.

I understand we can't be the world's policeman, but we can talk about it more often and push the UN around a little.
