He has his own website now.
www.jeremyhinzman.net
This deserter is a 26 year old private. So he was probably 25 or 26 when he enlisted, (no draft these days).
He sounds like a plant of the left wing. He was probably a lunatic lib and volunteered, got past boot camp and then deserted.
A real CO would not enlist and become an 82 Airborne trooper.
Checked out his web site. He is asking for donations: "If you'd like to help us defer the enormous costs of a refugee hearing, that would be fantastic". I can almost envision the long line of Freepers lining up to pay homage to this guy!
I read he was a veagn baker before he enlisted, and his wifey is a rabid feminist anti war person.
It looks like it was completely planned from the start. He joined the "Quakers" around the time he enlisted. If anyone knows anything about the Quakers, no more need be said.
Seem's to be just a friggin nut loser coward running from some really serious personal issues that exist only in his own mind..... Coming soon to a clock tower near you in a clown suit with an AK.....
He'll make a fine French Canadian citizen......America needs to pull the flush handle more often.......:o)
He has this timeline of his website:
1996 - Jeremy graduates from high school
1996 - Jeremy and Nga meet
1998 - Jeremy and Nga begin a relationship
2000 - Nga and Jeremy move to Boston
2001 - Jeremy and Nga are married
2001 - Jeremy enlists in the army, after his training, he is posted to Fort Bragg
2002 - Nga and Jeremy begin to attend Quaker meetings
2002 - Jeremy asks to be transferred to non-combat duties; his application is lost
2002 - Jeremy files for conscientious objector status again
2002 - Jeremy is deployed to Afghanistan where he participates in 18 parachute jumps before transferring to non-combative duties
2002 - Liam is born
2003 - Jeremy conscientious objector hearing is held; he is denied
2003 - Jeremy is told he is going to be deployed to Iraq
2004 - Jeremy and Nga leave the US for Canada
He might have enlisted after 9/11. But then files as a CO when learning of his deployment to Afghanistan. His website is littered with his philosophy that War is wrong even under self-defense situations. He probably joined for the benefits before 9/11 and thought he would end up as Global Cop in Sudan or some third world dump. Kind of like the Peace Corps but with better benefits.
