( I can't help it, I miss Duke Nukem. And Doom. And Blood. And Descent.)

Why miss em? there are playable multi level demos available at WWW.DOSGAMES.COM Of course you'll need Windows 98,DOS, or a couple or three emulators to run em on your modern system. Some of them will even work in XP but that's the exception rather than the rule.Descent will run on my XP system without sound.

One more thing if you just like running around shooting stuff the playable demo of Quake 3 Arena is awesome. And it doesn't require a fancy graphics card to work.

Okay this is how pathetic I am - I kept a Windows 98 partition on my Linux box, JUST SO I COULD PLAY MY LEGACY GAMES. But I miss the games because I have a little six-year-old boy now and I can't even play them around him yet because of the violence.

Well, except for Descent II which I can slide under his Daddy's radar because it's just robots I'm shooting, there's no blood, and we get to save the hostages.

Otherwise, his Daddy puts his foot down about violent games. He gets seasick just watching me play anything in 360...
