I know... and I do actually know better. If it weren't for the fact that I'm on my fourth beer, I wouldn't even try. :-)

I've been around FR long enough to know better, but for some reason these immigration threads still seem to push my buttons. I can't completely explain it.

I think perhaps my offense comes from some years that I spent actually standing a post on that border. I was a coastie once upon a time, and I did a lot of time watching that border with binoculars, and boarding boats, and searching for contraband and illegals.

The U.S. has 22,000 miles of "border". We defended this with a force somewhat smaller than the NYPD. The equator is only 2,000 miles longer, and yet there are yahoos around here that seem to think it is a simple and original idea that we should just "seal" that. Right...

I know a lot of good professionals in the Border Patrol, and Customs, and any number of other agencies that really do try their best to do the job they have to do.

To say that we have "open" borders is simply offensive, and essentially untrue. It is a lie. Worse than that, it just pisses on the good work of thousands of patriots that are out there *right now* standing a post on that wall.

This is what really ticks me off.

Pardon the rant.

5,000 a day thru Arizona. Unchecked.

Another 5,000 a day thru the other southwestern states combined. Unchecked.

10,000 a day. Unchecked.

Sounds pretty "open" to me. And I would never piss on a Patriot. The border patrol is as essential as our active duty military, and our reservists.

All serve a purpose...and the border patrol is being hobbled. It's kind of like fighting a war without affording your military ammunition. The fine work of the BP should never be criticized. When they are allowed to do it.

Pardon the rant ;)
