Why is everyone so upset with the illegals? This is like the Emperor's clothes. Obviously no one wants to deal with illegal immigration. It's real simple, you follow them to work, and arrest thier employers. No jobs, no illegal aliens. No border problems.

Yeah, like that is going to happen. Why does no one talk about this aspect of the problem?

President Bush was shown on NBC news tonight. He was saying he supports the immigration/security measures being proposed by Representatives Hunter and Sensenbrenner and he will send letters to each member of Congress on Monday telling them to support it!

Hunter of California and Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin are two of the strongest proponents of immigration reform.

What many of you are missing is that legal immigration has almost shut down. My wife's daughter should be able to immigrate 1.5 years after we apply as the adult daughter of a citizen. Note, this is the first and highest family preference. However, the process has ground to a halt and in the last 10 months the process has only moved one month. That means the first priority class will likely take at least 10 years. I love George Bush, but what has happened is that they have shut down legal and encouraged illegal immigration.

We need o fill the void left by 44 million aborted workers to help fix Social Security, but Bush is going about it the wrong way.

Where are you getting your information??? The Main stream media?..

Why don't you get the basic facts?

Are you aware that all illegals must pay a fine for jumping the border before further consideration? That they then get a temporary visa for work? Then they must continue to register in order to stay here?

And that without the documentation they are denied all social benefits?

Get some facts, man, before you go off on the plan. It's a way to log and track.

Neither party wants to deal with this because it cuts across a number of issues - not the least of which is enriching their rich contributors who want illegal labor and the ability to skirt laws that they also will not enforce. Then they cover their tracks by saying 'no american wants to work the job.'
Pressure is on and building. If they don't do something about it and clean up their act, America will clean it up for them. This isn't a Dem vs. Pub thing. They're all up to their eyeballs in it and refuse to represent us.

Just by President Bush mentioning his illegal alien "worker's program" in 2000-2001, soon after illegal immigration shot up.

I'll not quibble with the stats, but I can correct you as to the blame.

President Bush never called his proposal a amnesty of any kind. No once!

Some one else made that charge and that is what brought the additional people.

Someone else called it amnesty.

"However, I cannot for the life of me figure out why he wants to reward people for breaking the law."

Big time BOY HOWDE on that one, I have to go along with the "what the heck is George thinking" thing on this one. The "SS argument" is not valid, the "cheap corporate labor" argument is not valid, the "it is not against the law" argument is not valid.

I sure hope there is the "Clearance 7000 U.L.T.R.A. MegaCode 4 Dimensional Hologram Security" reason why the current administration is ignoring a FULL-BLOWN-INVASION across the mexican border.

Cause if it ain't, I gotta `nuther way of responding.

"When you reward people for breaking the law, guess what is going to happen"

You get more of whatever you subsidize. Taxpayers are subsidizing cheap labor, medical, housing you name it for a few law breaking employers.

First of all, I love George W. Bush being our President.

Which excuses his selling out to Mexico... Basically that's all you're saying. Thanks...

Almost forgot the reminder: everyone concerned about this issue needs to join "NumbersUSA" and support the phone/fax/emailing all our representatives to stand strong on the issue.

I don't know who the "widows" were at the site of the WTC NYC yesterday getting signed petitions, was it the 5 who didn't support the President for re-election? I'm not understanding why they would want a bill that allows the kind of people who killed their husbands to easily come into this country and get "legal" drivers' licenses.

When someone of Bush's (alleged) intelligence is pushing a suicidal plan such as this despite protestations from millions of Americans leads me to believe he's either bought off (FTAA?) or compromised in some fashion......surely he and his advisors are not this stupid.
